About brighthush

At brighthush, we are redefining the future of energy infrastructure by turning complex power grids into engineering‑grade digital twins. Leveraging cutting‑edge machine learning, physics‑based simulation, and real‑time data analytics, we empower utilities worldwide to anticipate, mitigate, and adapt to the most extreme weather events and operational challenges. Our mission is simple yet profound: make the world’s power networks safer, smarter, and more resilient.

Why Japan? Why You?

Japan’s electrification landscape is both a marvel and a challenge. With a dense network of aging assets, a growing demand for renewable integration, and a climate that can bring sudden, severe storms, the country needs innovative tools to safeguard its grid. brighthush is expanding its footprint across the APAC region, and we’re looking for a passionate, bilingual engineer to lead our Japan team. If you thrive on solving real‑world problems, enjoy collaborating across cultures, and want to be part of a company that is literally changing the way power is managed, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Customer Success Engineer in Japan, you will be the linchpin between brighthush’s platform and our Japanese utility partners. Your day‑to‑day work will involve:

  • Designing and automating data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, and transform large volumes of GIS, LiDAR, and operational data.
  • Reconciling disparate data sources to create a unified, high‑fidelity digital model of the customer’s grid.
  • Building custom dashboards and reports that translate complex simulation outputs into actionable insights for grid operators.
  • Configuring and integrating the brighthush platform with the customer’s existing SCADA, GIS, and asset management systems.
  • Identifying and correcting model inaccuracies through rigorous validation against field data and engineering standards.
  • Collaborating with product and engineering teams to prioritize platform enhancements, especially those tailored to Japanese regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Analyzing client feedback to uncover new use‑case opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Producing technical documentation that supports both internal knowledge transfer and external client training.
  • Mentoring junior team members as the Japan team grows, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.

Essential Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, Geography/GIS, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Fluency in Japanese (business‑level or native) and professional proficiency in English.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in GIS, engineering, or technical delivery roles.
  • Hands‑on experience with GIS/CAD geoprocessing and/or LiDAR data.
  • Proficiency in FME and relational database concepts (lookup, reference, and logical functions).
  • Strong coding background in at least one language (Python, JavaScript, or similar) with a track record of building scalable solutions.
  • Experience working with cloud‑based software (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Preferred (Highly Valued) Experience

  • Direct involvement in transmission or distribution projects for Japanese utilities or their engineering partners.
  • Familiarity with Japanese design or engineering standards and line‑design tools such as PLS‑CADD.
  • Prior integration of ESRI or other GIS platforms used by utilities.
  • Experience in system implementations, integrations, and technical project delivery across multiple stakeholders.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Spatial reasoning – adept at working with 2D and 3D data to uncover insights.
  • Meticulous, quality‑focused mindset with a commitment to delivering robust, production‑grade solutions.
  • Excellent cross‑cultural communication skills, comfortable collaborating with teams in Australia, Europe, and the US.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Proactive project management skills, including prioritization and stakeholder coordination.
