At brighthush, we believe that technology should serve people, not the other way around. As a member of our team, you’ll be part of a culture that celebrates diversity, encourages continuous learning, and rewards bold ideas. Role Overview
We’re looking for a dynamic, customer‑centric professional to join brighthush as our first dedicated Senior Customer Success Manager. In this role, you will partner directly with the Head of Customer Experience to design, launch, and scale the customer success framework that supports our church‑focused product suite. You will be the bridge between our technical teams, our pastoral partners, and the churches we serve—ensuring that every onboarding, training, and ongoing relationship is seamless, impactful, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- End‑to‑End Onboarding Leadership: Own the full onboarding journey for new church clients—from securing access and coordinating technical setup with the development team to delivering customized training sessions and ensuring a smooth transition to daily use.
- Strategic Partnership with Leadership: Act as the through‑line for customer relationships, joining sales calls, kickoff meetings, data‑practice discussions, strategy sessions, and training engagements to align customer goals with product capabilities.
- Independent Customer Engagement: Conduct monthly check‑ins, relationship‑building meetings, and strategy reviews for an assigned portfolio of approximately 50 churches, ensuring high satisfaction and retention.
- Technical Liaison: Translate customer needs into actionable insights for engineering, follow up on feature requests, and reduce the frequency of engineering involvement in customer calls.
- Process & Playbook Development: Document onboarding playbooks, support workflows, training best practices, and ministry‑specific strategies to create a repeatable, scalable framework for future hires.
- Automation & Operational Backbone: Identify opportunities for automation or delegation (including AI tools) versus tasks that require human pastoral touch, and build the operational infrastructure to support both.
- Travel & In‑Person Engagement: Travel periodically for on‑site training, customer visits, and team gatherings to deepen relationships and gather real‑world insights.
- Continuous Improvement: Record and review customer calls, extract lessons, and iterate on processes to elevate the overall customer experience.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience in a customer‑facing role at a SaaS or technology company, with a track record of managing multiple work‑streams independently.
- Deep understanding of church operations, pastoral care, and ministry workflows—either through staff experience or sustained involvement in a local church.
- Strong communication skills, capable of leading discussions with executive pastors and church leadership with confidence and humility.
- Technical aptitude: comfortable conversing about CHMS integrations (Planning Center, Pushpay CCB, Rock, Salesforce) and evolving strategy alongside customers.
- Experience with onboarding, training, and ongoing relationship management for organizational customers.
- Ability to translate strategy into structured systems, processes, and playbooks.
- Willingness to travel for customer trainings and team gatherings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with church management systems such as PCO, Pushpay CCB, Rock, or Salesforce.
- Experience building or scaling a customer success function from the ground up.
- Background in change management within a ministry setting.
- Experience with AI‑driven automation tools for customer success workflows.
Skills & Competencies
- Customer‑Obsessed Mindset: Passion for understanding and anticipating customer needs, and a relentless drive to deliver value.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture while managing day‑to‑day details.
- Process Orientation: Skilled at designing, documenting, and refining processes that scale.
- Collaboration & Influence: Comfortable working cross‑functionally with engineering, sales, and leadership teams.
- Adaptability: Thrives in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment where playbooks are written in real time.
- Empathy & Relational Leadership: Builds trust with pastors, ministry leaders, and church staff.
