Senior Director of Data Platform

Role Description The Senior Director of Data Platform is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the strategy, design, and evolution of 5C’s data platform supporting large-scale AI infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the development of data architectures and services, guiding platform roadmaps, and aligning data capabilities with companywide product and infrastructure initiatives. The person in this role will collaborate closely with engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure data systems are secure, performant, and scalable. They will manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, establish best practices for data governance and quality, and drive continuous improvement in data tooling and workflows. The Senior Director of Data Platform will also contribute to long-term planning, budget management, and vendor partnerships related to data and analytics technologies.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong Team Management and Team Leadership skills, including experience building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing technical teams. Candidates should possess Project Management skills, including roadmap planning, prioritization, cross-functional coordination, and delivery of complex platform initiatives. Candidates should possess Software Development skills, with a solid understanding of modern data engineering practices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures. Candidates should possess Product Management skills, including the ability to define platform vision, translate requirements into features, and measure impact through clear metrics. Extensive experience leading data platform, data engineering, or infrastructure teams in fast-paced technology environments, ideally supporting AI or high-performance computing workloads. Proficiency with data platforms and tools (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes, streaming systems, orchestration frameworks, and APIs) and familiarity with security, compliance, and reliability standards. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive and cross-functional levels. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
