Role Overview
As a Field Service Technician at brighthush, you will be the technical backbone of our global customer base. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our smart packaging machines and systems operate at peak performance, both during initial commissioning and throughout their operational life. You will travel extensively—approximately 80% of the time—to client sites in Germany and abroad, providing on‑site support, troubleshooting, and training.
Core Responsibilities
- Commissioning & Installation: Conduct electrical start‑up of new machines and retrofit projects, ensuring all safety and performance standards are met.
- System Integration: Install and configure control cabinets, verify wiring diagrams, and integrate drives, sensors, and actuators.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) both internally and at client locations.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve electrical faults in control systems, PLCs, and peripheral devices using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and performance optimizations to enhance machine stability and throughput.
- Document all service activities in detailed reports, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality standards.
- Train and mentor client operators and maintenance staff on safe operation, routine checks, and basic troubleshooting.
Essential Qualifications
- Completed vocational training as an electrician, electronics technician, or mechatronics engineer (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in machine or plant engineering, preferably in the packaging or food processing sector.
- Proficient in control technology using brighthush Portal and brighthush Expert, and experienced with brighthush P8 for schematic design.
- Solid knowledge of drive systems, sensor technology, and actuator integration.
- Strong analytical skills, with a methodical and reliable approach to problem solving.
- Excellent German communication skills; basic English proficiency is required.
- Valid driver’s licence class B and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with industrial networking protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
- Familiarity with safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and local regulations.
- Previous exposure to remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance platforms.
- Proactive attitude toward continuous learning and process improvement.
