About brighthush

brighthush is a forward‑thinking technology partner that empowers some of the world’s most influential financial institutions. With a culture rooted in collaboration, continuous learning, and a deep respect for the people who build our solutions, we help our clients navigate complex digital landscapes while delivering measurable business impact. Our remote‑first team of more than 80 professionals spans the EU, the US, and Latin America, and we’re expanding our footprint in Brazil to support our growing client base.

Why This Role Matters

In the fast‑paced world of investment management, the success of a client’s technology initiatives hinges on the quality of the engineering talent they deploy. As the Engineering Engagement Lead for one of the largest S&P 500 investment managers, you will be the bridge between our engineers and the client’s engineering leadership. Your influence will shape how our people grow, how we deliver value, and how the client’s business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • People & Performance Management – Regularly evaluate each engineer against brighthush’s high standards and the client’s success criteria. Use data, peer feedback, and direct observation to create actionable coaching plans.
  • Client Relationship Stewardship – Serve as the senior point of contact for the client’s engineering and product managers. Translate technical progress into business outcomes, manage expectations, and advocate for our people.
  • Coaching & Career Development – Conduct one‑on‑ones, deliver candid feedback, and map clear career paths. Identify promotion candidates, build promotion cases, and support transitions into leadership roles.
  • Retention & Engagement – Keep engineers motivated, especially those working independently within client teams. Detect early signs of disengagement and implement retention strategies.
  • Communication Facilitation – Mediate between brighthush and the client to resolve shifting priorities, unclear ownership, and unrealistic timelines. Ensure transparent, cross‑cultural communication.
  • AI Practice Oversight – Evaluate how engineers incorporate AI tools into their workflows, enforce best practices, and share insights that elevate the team’s overall effectiveness.
  • Process Improvement – Design and refine repeatable systems for evaluating people, gathering feedback, and scaling coaching across distributed teams.

Essential Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, people leadership, engagement, or account management within agency, consultancy, nearshore, or client‑embedded environments.
  • Strong engineering mindset: deep understanding of SDLC, common architectures, and modern tech stacks. Ability to hold technical conversations with engineers and product managers.
  • Proven track record of growing engineers from junior to senior, and from individual contributor to leadership roles.
  • Exceptional communication skills across written, asynchronous, live, and cross‑cultural contexts.
  • Experience managing senior client stakeholders, gathering honest feedback, and demonstrating value.
  • Fluency in AI as a working tool: ability to assess usage against defined practices and drive improvement.
  • Experience leading distributed or remote teams, including individuals who work largely independently.

Preferred (but not mandatory) Skills

  • Background in software engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in the financial services or investment management sector.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks that impact technology delivery in finance.
  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish or Portuguese) to enhance communication with LATAM stakeholders.

What You’ll Gain

  • Collaboration with senior leadership and exposure to strategic client initiatives.
  • Access to a robust learning ecosystem: annual education budget, AI workshops, and mentorship programs.
  • Work‑life balance in a remote‑first environment with flexible scheduling.
  • Competitive compensation package with performance bonuses, health & wellness benefits, and a generous PTO policy.
