About the Opportunity: The SENIOR MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER, ADS ML EFFICIENCY, focuses on optimizing machine learning workloads to improve speed, scalability, and cost-efficiency. This role directly impacts the effectiveness of machine learning models used for advertising by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and implementing enhancements that improve system-wide execution and outcomes. Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end performance optimization for production machine learning workloads. Profile and diagnose ML performance issues across execution, runtime, hardware utilization, and infrastructure. Design and implement improvements in inference execution, memory management, precision, and related techniques. Enhance ML training and serving efficiency, balancing latency, throughput, hardware use, cost, and model quality. Support model launches through benchmarking, load testing, and regression detection. Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to identify optimization opportunities and validate impacts. Develop reusable performance tools, benchmarks, and guidance to accelerate model deployment. Provide technical leadership and mentorship through collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Requirements: Proven experience in machine learning performance engineering with measurable improvements. Expertise in at least one ML performance domain such as runtimes, compiler integration, or GPU optimization. Strong skills in profiling, benchmarking, and systematic bottleneck identification. Solid software engineering background with proficiency in Python and systems programming. Understanding of production ML frameworks and performance trade-offs. Good engineering judgment balancing performance with correctness, reliability, and maintainability. Effective communication skills to articulate trade-offs and collaborate with teams.
