About brighthush and the Future of Dental Technology

brighthush is on a bold mission to revolutionize the dental industry—a sector valued at more than $400 billion worldwide. By harnessing cutting‑edge robotics, additive manufacturing, and intelligent software, we are building the operating system that will power dental practices of the future. Our vision is simple yet ambitious: to give clinicians the tools, data, and support they need to deliver faster, more accurate, and more personalized care for every patient.

As we expand our footprint across North America, Europe, and Asia, we are building a global team of innovators who thrive on solving complex problems and turning ideas into market‑ready products. If you are passionate about mechatronics, robotics, and the intersection of technology and healthcare, brighthush offers an environment where your expertise can shape the next generation of dental manufacturing.

Why This Role Matters

The Senior Mechatronics Engineer will be the technical cornerstone of our Precision Robotics R&D team. You will design the “nervous system” of our next‑generation Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) that manufacture custom prosthetics with micron‑level precision. Your work will directly impact the quality of dental implants, crowns, and bridges that millions of patients rely on each year.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture & Design – Architect and integrate complex robotic hardware systems, including precision actuators, sensors, and electromechanical subsystems, ensuring they meet the stringent reliability and accuracy required for custom prosthetic manufacturing.
  • Special Purpose Machine Design Expertise – Leverage deep knowledge of additive (3D printing) and subtractive (milling, grinding, polishing) processes to design versatile, high‑precision manufacturing platforms that can be rapidly reconfigured for new product lines.
  • High‑Fidelity Prototyping – Lead rapid prototyping of components, perform rigorous structural and thermal analyses, and validate designs through intensive performance testing and failure‑mode analysis (FMEA).
  • Cross‑Functional Integration – Serve as the primary technical liaison between mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams, ensuring seamless system integration and optimization of system dynamics.
  • Mentorship & Leadership – Mentor junior engineers, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive the adoption of best practices across the R&D organization.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management – Travel to suppliers, manufacturing, and testing facilities (≈20% travel) to evaluate components, negotiate specifications, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Safety & Compliance – Apply knowledge of ISO 10218 and ISO 13482 standards to design safe, collaborative robotic systems that meet regulatory requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in machine building, mechatronics, or robotics engineering with a focus on system‑level architecture for production systems.
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering.
  • Expert‑level proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD platforms and a deep understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Profound knowledge of robotic kinematics/dynamics, motor controllers, and simulation tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with sensor integration, embedded systems, and manufacturing design execution.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a high‑velocity, high‑growth environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑directed, proactive, and adaptable in a fast‑paced, early‑stage environment.

Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications

  • Experience as a System or Mechanical Engineer for an Automation System Integrator or OEM, delivering turnkey automated solutions.
  • Advanced motion control expertise: waveform tuning, custom PLC programming (Beckhoff/TwinCAT), or high‑performance motion controllers (ACS, Elmo, etc.).
  • Proficiency with laser interferometry, high‑resolution optical encoders, and sub‑micron calibration techniques for milling and printing paths.
  • Experience integrating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and 3D vision systems into robotic workflows for real‑time quality feedback.
  • Advanced FEA/CFD skills for thermal and vibration analysis of high‑speed robotic linkages and spindles.
  • Design or qualification of custom brushless motors, linear actuators, or robotic end‑effectors.
  • Knowledge of ISO 10218 or ISO 13482 standards for robotic system safety and collaborative operation.

What You’ll Gain at brighthush

  • Career Growth – As a senior engineer in a rapidly scaling company, you will have the opportunity to shape product strategy, lead cross‑functional teams, and eventually transition into a leadership role such as Director of Robotics or VP of Engineering.
  • Learning & Development – Access to industry conferences, advanced training programs, and a generous budget for certifications and professional courses.
  • Innovation‑First Culture – Work in an environment that encourages experimentation, rapid prototyping, and iterative design. Your ideas will be heard and implemented.
  • Impactful Work – Your designs will directly influence the quality of dental prosthetics that improve patient outcomes worldwide.
  • Competitive Compensation – Base salary range of $152,000–$179,000, an 8% annual bonus, and equity in a high‑growth company.
  • Comprehensive Benefits – Healthcare, dental, vision, mental health support, parental leave, retirement savings, and generous paid time off. All benefits are tailored to the region where you work.
  • Inclusive Environment – brighthush is committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture that celebrates authenticity and collaboration.
  • Work‑Life Balance – Flexible work arrangements, remote options, and a supportive team that values personal well‑being.
