Hiring: Senior Platform Architect – Kubernetes Location: United States Work Arrangement: Remote Employment Type: Contract Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Architect – Kubernetes to design, build, secure, and optimize enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms across on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in Kubernetes architecture, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, GitOps, container security, and production operations. This role requires a strong technical professional who can architect highly available, scalable, and secure Kubernetes platforms while establishing engineering standards across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, architect, implement, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters across on-premises and cloud environments. Lead Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, including provisioning, upgrades, scaling, networking, storage, security, and troubleshooting. Design, implement, and manage Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments. Develop infrastructure automation and provisioning workflows using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Implement GitOps practices and automated deployment workflows using Helm, FluxCD, and CI/CD pipelines. Establish platform engineering standards, reference architectures, reusable configurations, and operational best practices. Design and manage multi-tenant Kubernetes environments with appropriate workload isolation, resource governance, and access controls. Implement container security, image hardening, vulnerability management, IAM/RBAC policies, and platform security controls. Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and related technologies. Troubleshoot complex production issues involving Kubernetes networking, storage, performance, cluster reliability, and application deployments. Collaborate with cloud engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, security, and application teams to deliver reliable platform services. Evaluate and implement AI-enabled platform engineering practices to improve automation, operational efficiency, and platform reliability. Support AI/ML and GPU-accelerated workloads on Kubernetes, where applicable.
Required Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience architecting, engineering, and operating on-premises Kubernetes platforms in production environments. Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, high availability, cluster upgrades, networking, storage, security, observability, and troubleshooting. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Proven experience designing and managing secure, multi-tenant Kubernetes environments. Strong understanding of Linux administration, containerization, networking, and production infrastructure operations. Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Experience implementing GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated infrastructure and application deployments. Practical experience with Helm and FluxCD. Experience implementing monitoring and observability using Prometheus and Grafana. Strong understanding of IAM, Kubernetes RBAC, container hardening, secrets management, and security best practices. Ability to design scalable, secure, highly available, and maintainable platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or GPU-based applications on Kubernetes. Familiarity with AI-enabled platform engineering and AI-assisted infrastructure automation. Relevant Kubernetes certifications, such as CKA or CKAD, or equivalent cloud certifications. Experience defining enterprise-wide platform engineering standards and reusable infrastructure patterns.
