Senior SAS Quality Assurance Tester
Job Title: Senior SAS Quality Assurance Tester Location: 100% Remote Duration: 6 Months with a strong possibility of long-term extension Industry: Healthcare / Medicaid About The Role We are seeking a Senior SAS Quality Assurance Tester to support healthcare data validation, ETL testing, reporting, and data integration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong SAS Base programming and SQL skills, experience translating business requirements into test scenarios, and the ability to independently validate software solutions and communicate testing results to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Review business requirements, technical specifications, design documents, and testing documentation. Collaborate with project teams and customers to clarify requirements and testing expectations. Develop test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and validation scripts. Use SAS Base programming and SQL to perform independent data validation and verify application results. Test ETL processes, reports, data integrations, and data quality. Maintain requirements traceability across requirements, test cases, defects, and test evidence. Execute test cases, document results, and maintain testing artifacts in designated repositories. Review code and develop independent validation code to confirm that solutions meet specifications. Identify, document, track, and retest defects using Jira, TestRail, or similar tools. Follow established QA processes, testing standards, and documentation practices. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test scenarios, assisting users, answering questions, and documenting results. Present testing outcomes, findings, and recommendations to customers and project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with relevant work experience. Strong experience with SAS Base programming and SQL. Ability to interpret business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios. Experience with software quality assurance, test execution, defect management, and test documentation. Experience with ETL, reporting, and data integration testing. Familiarity with Linux environments. Experience using Jira, TestRail, or similar test and defect management tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to asking clarifying questions. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively with teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with SAS and/or Medicaid data. Knowledge of SAS Visual Analytics (VA), SAS Viya, and SAS Studio. Experience with ETL processing, test planning, test case development, and QA documentation. SAS 9.4 Base Programmer Certification. Experience in healthcare data validation or state healthcare programs.
