Position Overview The Senior Vice President of Operations will provide executive leadership across the company's operational functions, driving organizational effectiveness, scalable processes, and sustainable business growth. This role is responsible for translating strategic priorities into operational execution, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, improving service delivery, and establishing performance standards that support the company's long-term objectives. Working closely with the CEO and other senior leaders, the SVP of Operations will oversee operational planning, resource allocation, process optimization, organizational development, and operational risk management. The ideal candidate brings strong executive judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to build efficient operating structures within a growing, technology-driven business.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Operations Leadership: Lead the development and execution of company-wide operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives, growth plans, and long-term business priorities. Strategic Planning and Execution: Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to establish operational priorities, define measurable objectives, and ensure effective implementation across departments. Operational Excellence: Evaluate existing workflows, identify structural inefficiencies, and implement scalable processes that improve productivity, service quality, consistency, and organizational performance. Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with leadership and teams across business operations, finance, technology, IT, compliance, and client services to strengthen accountability and execution. Business Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), operational reporting frameworks, and management review processes to monitor performance and support data-informed decision-making. Resource and Budget Oversight: Collaborate with finance leadership on operating budgets, resource planning, cost management, and investment priorities to support sustainable growth. Risk Management and Internal Controls: Strengthen operational controls, documentation standards, escalation procedures, and risk management practices in coordination with relevant compliance and legal professionals. Service Delivery and Client Experience: Improve internal coordination and client-facing operational processes to support timely insurance placement, effective communication, and consistent service standards. Organizational Development: Build management capabilities, clarify departmental responsibilities, establish performance expectations, and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Technology and Systems Optimization: Work with technology and IT leadership to improve operational systems, workflow automation, data quality, and the effective use of digital tools. Change Management: Lead cross-functional initiatives, organizational improvements, and operational transformation projects that support business expansion and evolving market needs. Executive Reporting: Provide senior management with regular updates on operational performance, emerging risks, strategic initiatives, resource requirements, and progress against business objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Management, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred. Significant experience in operations leadership, business management, strategic execution, or a related senior management function. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex operational initiatives. Strong understanding of operational planning, organizational performance, resource allocation, budgeting, and process improvement. Experience developing performance metrics, management reporting systems, and operational governance frameworks. Ability to identify operational risks, evaluate business processes, and implement practical solutions. Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Proven ability to lead organizational change and build scalable operating processes in a dynamic business environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable operating plans. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively with distributed teams in a remote environment. Preferred Skills Experience in a growing startup, technology company, professional services organization, or complex business environment. Familiarity with commercial insurance operations, risk management, client service delivery, or regulated business processes. Experience supporting executive-level planning, operational transformation, and organizational scaling. Proficiency with project management platforms, business reporting tools, and workflow management systems.
