Snowflake Data Architect

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Job Title: Snowflake Data Architect Location: Orlando, FL (Remote) Duration: 6 Weeks Contract Client: Direct Client Kindly Note: SnowPro Advanced Architect or SnowPro Core certification Required Role Overview We are seeking a Snowflake Data Architect with exceptional advisory and assessment capabilities to evaluate, modernize, and secure our enterprise data platform. In this role, you will step into an existing Snowflake environment holding sensitive healthcare and patient data to identify architecture gaps and design a high-performance target state. You will own the end-to-end modernization roadmap, translating complex technical discoveries into visual architectures (current-state, target-state, and data-flow diagrams) and strategic next steps. This is a consultative, high-impact role requiring a deep understanding of data engineering lifecycle stages—from ingestion to semantic layer—coupled with rigorous data governance and security frameworks. Key Deliverables: Audit the existing Snowflake architecture, code, and data pipelines to identify gaps in performance, ingestion, modeling, and data quality. Author and maintain formal technical artifacts, specifically Current-State, Target-State, and Data-Flow diagrams. Define a clear, actionable phased roadmap that outlines recommendations, dependencies, and execution milestones. Core Responsibilities: Lead discovery sessions with business and technical stakeholders to surface pain points, gather requirements, and align data strategies with business goals. Architect robust ELT/ETL pipelines encompassing batch, streaming, APIs, CDC/replication, schema mutation handling, and ingestion validation. Design data flows traversing the full lifecycle: Ingestion (rightarrow ) Raw (rightarrow ) Curated (rightarrow ) Modeled (rightarrow ) Data Products/Semantic Layer (rightarrow ) BI/AI. Implement enterprise-grade security controls (RBAC, dynamic data masking, row-level security, encryption) tailored for sensitive patient and healthcare data. Establish frameworks for metadata management, data cataloging, lineage tracking, automated validation rules, and unified common definitions. Required Skills & Experience: 7+ years in enterprise data engineering and analytics architecture, with 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying Snowflake solutions. Deep knowledge of Snowflake-specific optimization, including clustering keys, materialized views, search optimization, and query performance tuning. Strong proficiency in modern data architectures, including Medallion Lakehouse structures, Data Vault, and traditional dimensional modeling (Kimball/Inmon). Extensive experience building ELT pipelines using SQL and cloud-native services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, GCP Dataflow). Proven track record of managing RBAC, masking policies, and access controls for highly regulated data (HIPAA/healthcare experience preferred). Exceptional communication skills with the ability to review existing code, identify architectural anti-patterns, and confidently recommend "what should happen next" to executive leadership. BA/BS required, preferably in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable experience may be substituted). An MS in a quantitative discipline is preferred. REQUIRED: Active Snowflake technical certifications (SnowPro Advanced Architect or SnowPro Core).
