Why This Role Matters

As a Strategic Customer Success Manager at brighthush, you will own our largest and most complex customer relationships—enterprise utilities, state departments of transportation, and national engineering firms that are rolling out brighthush across multiple teams, regions, and projects. You will act as the executive‑level partner for these accounts, turning early wins into organization‑wide adoption, multi‑year renewals, and strategic expansion. This is a remote‑first role with a primary location preference for Texas, though candidates in Colorado, Georgia, Kansas City (MO), and Chicago are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Account Ownership: Manage a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts through every stage—pilot, adoption, health monitoring, renewal, and expansion.
  • Strategic Account Planning: Build and maintain detailed account plans that map organizational structures, stakeholder maps, business priorities, and whitespace opportunities across departments and regions.
  • Executive Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with executive sponsors (VPs and Directors of engineering, gas and electric operations, GIS, and asset management) as well as day‑to‑day champions.
  • Executive Business Reviews (EBRs): Lead quarterly and annual business reviews that tie brighthush usage to measurable customer outcomes and ROI.
  • Pilot & Deployment Partnership: Work closely with Solutions Engineers to define pilot success criteria, oversee deployment strategies, and transition successful pilots into enterprise‑wide rollouts.
  • Expansion & Upsell Collaboration: Partner with Account Executives to identify new teams, use cases, and product opportunities, co‑owning the commercial motion for expansion.
  • Risk Management & Escalation: Proactively spot and mitigate risk, and coordinate escalations across Product, Engineering, and Operations when needed.
  • Voice‑of‑Customer Advocacy: Capture structured feedback, translate it into actionable product roadmap items, and champion enterprise requirements within the product organization.
  • Thought Leadership & Reference Building: Develop case studies, reference programs, and success stories with flagship customers to amplify brighthush’s market impact.
  • Playbook Development: Contribute to the creation of brighthush’s enterprise Customer Success playbook—including account planning templates, EBR frameworks, and health‑scoring models—and serve as a model for the broader CS team.

Essential Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in customer success, account management, or consulting roles, with a proven track record of managing enterprise accounts that involve complex, multi‑stakeholder buying groups.
  • Demonstrated success driving renewals and expansion in large accounts, preferably within utilities, state departments of transportation, public agencies, or architecture‑engineering‑construction (AEC) firms.
  • Comfort and confidence engaging with senior executives—able to run a QBR with a VP and hold a technical conversation with a GIS lead in the same week.
  • Strong commercial instincts; ability to build compelling business cases and quantify ROI for customers.
  • Technical aptitude with familiarity in civil design, utility operations, or infrastructure data management.
  • Bias toward action, independent judgment, and the ability to thrive with limited guidance.
  • Willingness to travel 30–50 % of the time for on‑site executive meetings, account planning sessions, and fieldwork.

Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications

  • Background in civil engineering, utilities, or a related technical field.
  • Experience at an early‑stage or high‑growth SaaS company.
  • Hands‑on experience with CAD and/or GIS platforms.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture, align product capabilities with customer business goals, and map out long‑term growth pathways.
  • Communication Excellence: Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication tailored to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Comfortable using usage analytics, health scores, and financial metrics to drive recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Works seamlessly with Solutions Engineers, Product Managers, Marketing, and Sales to deliver a unified customer experience.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identifies obstacles, crafts creative solutions, and escalates when necessary to protect the customer relationship.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast‑moving startup environment where priorities shift and new opportunities emerge daily.
