Technical Writer Remote / Telecommute Jobs

Technical Writer Location - Gaithersburg, MD Clearance – TS/SCI (Will upgrade clearance from SCI to CI Poly) Hybrid remote - 3 days onsite

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation for network systems and software.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, audience-appropriate content.
• Interview technical experts and validate information with engineering and mission teams.
• Create and maintain technical manuals, user guides, SOPs, architecture descriptions, and program deliverables.
• Review documentation for accuracy, consistency, clarity, and completeness.
• Maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guides.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while following program security requirements.
• Improve documentation processes and technical communication practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Technical Communication, or a related field, with relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of professional technical writing experience, preferably supporting technology, software, systems engineering, defense, or intelligence programs.
• Strong ability to research unfamiliar technologies and quickly learn complex systems.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Intelligence Community, DoD, or other federal customers.
• Experience working in classified environments.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, data systems, or systems engineering.
• Experience with Markdown, XML, DITA, Git, or similar content-management tools.
• Experience supporting Agile or DevSecOps teams.
• Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC).
