Associate Attorney
Join Our Expansion into Arizona WBA Local Government Law has represented special districts and local governments across Colorado and Utah, and we are expanding into Arizona. In June 2026, the Arizona Legislature passed HB2999, which provides for the creation of a new type of special district known as State Affordability Infrastructure Districts (SAIDs). This legislation opens the door in Arizona for the kind of special district work WBA has built its reputation on for decades, and now we are at the forefront of forming SAIDs in Arizona. The framework is designed to support affordability and growth, and our attorneys are involved in the earliest formation, financing, and compliance work under this new statute. We are looking for our first Arizona-based attorney to serve as our in-person presence for clients and to play a major role in our Arizona expansion, with an established team behind you. About WBA Since 1997, WBA has helped develop premier communities through cutting-edge legal advice and dedicated support for local communities. Our Shareholders bring decades of experience in real estate development and local government law, including special taxing districts, intergovernmental authorities, municipalities, and commercial and residential owners' associations. We are a recognized leader in local government representation and pride ourselves on creativity, professionalism, and efficient, cost-effective service. WBA works in close collaboration with industry leaders (developers, engineers, planners, consultants, and public officials) to help clients achieve their broader business goals. We offer a robust benefits package, a remote work schedule, and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and engaging environment.
Overview
WBA is seeking a dynamic and driven Associate Attorney in Arizona with 3-8 years of experience to join our thriving special districts and local government practice. As a boutique firm at the forefront of local government representation, we offer attorneys the opportunity to engage in sophisticated, meaningful, and wide-ranging legal work that directly shapes growing communities across Colorado, Utah, and most recently, Arizona. Associates at WBA enjoy a uniquely immersive experience: direct interaction with clients and hands-on collaboration with developers, consultants, engineers, public officials, and other professionals across the industry. Our clients often partner with us for decades, giving Associates the chance to develop long-term relationships and be involved throughout the entire lifecycle of major development projects. In this role, you will work closely with two of our Shareholders, who are leading our Arizona expansion from Colorado, as well as boards of directors and project stakeholders on a broad spectrum of impactful matters, including district formation, infrastructure development, intergovernmental negotiations, real estate and transactional projects, regulatory compliance, and public governance. Our attorneys routinely draft and negotiate complex agreements, navigate challenging statutory and constitutional issues, advise clients during public meetings and hearings, and represent districts in administrative and judicial proceedings. No two days are the same, and the work is both intellectually stimulating and community-focused. This position is an exceptional fit for attorneys with strong business acumen, a desire to understand the full lifecycle of development projects, and the ambition to become a leader in a practice area that is new to Arizona. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, and confident in managing client relationships. You should enjoy a mix of transactional and advisory work and aspire to be an expert in our field.
