Chief Accounting Officer

Role Description The Chief Accounting Officer is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities at SSDO. This position leads the preparation and review of financial statements, ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and donor reporting guidelines, and maintains robust internal controls. The Chief Accounting Officer manages the accounting team, oversees budgeting and forecasting, and provides strategic financial insights to senior leadership for decision-making and long-term planning. Daily tasks include supervising general ledger activities, monitoring cash flow, coordinating audits, optimizing financial processes, and preparing reports for the board and other stakeholders. The role also involves collaborating with program teams to align financial management with SSDO’s development initiatives and to ensure transparent, accountable use of funds.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in Accounting and Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or equivalent professional certification, demonstrating advanced knowledge of accounting principles and standards. Proficiency in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including the ability to prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders. Solid foundation in Finance, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial risk assessment. Proven experience in leading accounting or finance functions, preferably in non-profit or NGO settings, with a focus on donor compliance and grant management. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced skills in accounting and ERP software, as well as MS Excel and other financial analysis tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and high ethical standards. Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across remote and cross-functional teams. Knowledge of Pakistan’s regulatory and tax environment and familiarity with NGO financial management frameworks is an advantage.
