Director Cross-Border Strategy

Role Description The Director Cross-Border Strategy is a full-time remote role responsible for shaping and executing Red Tape Ventures’ strategic approach to cross-border investments and portfolio support in complex regulatory environments. This role involves analyzing market-entry and scaling strategies across multiple jurisdictions, assessing regulatory landscapes, and advising on structuring, licensing, compliance, and cross-border operations for the fund and its portfolio companies. The Director will collaborate closely with investment, legal, and founding teams to design go-to-market plans, refine competitive positioning, and identify strategic partnerships with regulators, public institutions, and ecosystem stakeholders. Day-to-day activities include leading strategic projects, preparing decision-ready analyses and recommendations, supporting due diligence and investment committee processes, and continuously monitoring policy and regulatory developments that may impact portfolio performance or market expansion.

Qualifications

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex regulatory, market, and financial data to generate clear strategic insights. Expertise in strategic planning and business strategy, with experience designing cross-border market-entry and scaling strategies in emerging or complex markets. Background in consulting or management consulting, preferably with exposure to regulatory-heavy sectors, venture capital, or technology-driven business models. Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and founders, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment on strategic initiatives. Knowledge of MENA markets and regulatory environments is strongly preferred; experience with marketplaces or enablement technology is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional regional languages are an advantage. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced, and global environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
