Director of ProcurementCompany: YoshiTech Employment Type: Full-Time | Remote Department: Procurement, Supply Chain & Financial Operations Level: Director Position OverviewYoshiTech is seeking an experienced Director of Procurement who brings strong financial expertise, commercial judgment, and a disciplined approach to strategic sourcing and supplier management. Procurement plays a significant role in a company's financial performance. Supplier pricing, purchasing commitments, payment terms, inventory exposure, and long-term contracts can affect operating margins, working capital, and the organization's ability to invest in future growth. The Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing purchasing strategies that balance cost efficiency, supplier reliability, quality, and financial risk. This individual will work closely with Finance, Operations, and executive leadership to ensure procurement decisions support both immediate business requirements and long-term financial objectives. The position calls for someone who understands procurement as a financial and commercial function, not simply a purchasing process. The successful candidate should be capable of evaluating complex supplier agreements, analyzing total cost of ownership, managing significant purchasing budgets, and negotiating terms that protect the company's financial interests. We are looking for a procurement leader who has experience building supplier relationships, improving purchasing efficiency, and making financially informed decisions in demanding business environments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies that align purchasing activities with business objectives, operating budgets, and long-term financial plans. Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and purchasing operations across applicable business categories. Partner with Finance to establish procurement budgets, purchasing forecasts, cost-saving targets, and financial performance measures. Evaluate supplier proposals using pricing analysis, total cost of ownership, payment terms, service requirements, and long-term financial considerations. Negotiate supplier agreements involving pricing structures, volume commitments, payment schedules, service levels, and contractual risk. Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs, improve purchasing efficiency, and strengthen operating margins without compromising quality or business continuity. Analyze procurement spending, supplier concentration, contract performance, and purchasing trends to identify financial risks and cost improvement opportunities. Work with financial stakeholders to evaluate how procurement commitments affect cash flow, working capital, and operating expenses. Develop sourcing strategies that balance competitive pricing with supplier reliability, operational requirements, and financial stability. Conduct financial assessments of significant suppliers, including financial condition, credit exposure, and the ability to meet contractual obligations. Oversee procurement planning and coordinate purchasing requirements with Operations, Technology, and other business functions. Evaluate capital expenditure purchases and major vendor investments through cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and return-on-investment assessments. Support inventory and supply planning, where applicable, to reduce excess purchasing commitments, carrying costs, and unnecessary capital tied up in inventory. Establish supplier performance indicators covering cost, quality, delivery reliability, contractual compliance, and commercial value. Develop procurement policies, approval processes, and financial controls that support responsible spending and organizational accountability. Identify and manage risks associated with supplier dependency, price fluctuations, contractual obligations, and supply disruptions. Collaborate with Legal and Finance on complex supplier contracts, procurement compliance, and financial commitments. Monitor market conditions, supplier pricing trends, inflation, currency exposure, and other economic factors that may affect procurement costs. Prepare procurement performance reports, cost-saving analyses, purchasing forecasts, and strategic recommendations for executive leadership. Lead, mentor, and develop procurement professionals while establishing clear performance expectations and financial accountability. Qualifications12+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, purchasing operations, or related commercial functions. At least 5 years of senior management experience involving procurement strategy, supplier negotiations, purchasing budgets, and team leadership. Demonstrated success managing significant procurement expenditures and delivering measurable cost improvements. Strong financial knowledge, including budgeting, cost analysis, cash flow management, working capital, and financial forecasting. Experience developing sourcing strategies, negotiating complex commercial agreements, and managing long-term supplier relationships. Background in technology, engineering, manufacturing, technical services, or other procurement-intensive industries is preferred. Strong understanding of total cost of ownership, supplier pricing models, contract economics, and procurement return on investment. Experience evaluating supplier financial stability, commercial risks, payment terms, and contractual obligations. Demonstrated ability to work with Finance to evaluate purchasing commitments, capital expenditures, and cost-reduction initiatives. Knowledge of procurement governance, internal financial controls, supplier compliance, and commercial risk management. Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, procurement management platforms, spend analytics, and financial reporting tools. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships involving complex financial and operational considerations. Ability to interpret financial statements, purchasing data, and market information to support commercial decisions. Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional projects and developing procurement teams. Excellent analytical judgment, executive communication, organizational planning, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to coordinate suppliers and internal stakeholders effectively in a remote working environment. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline required. An MBA, CPSM, CIPS qualification, or relevant advanced certification is preferred. Ideal CandidateYou are an experienced procurement executive who understands that purchasing decisions have a direct impact on profitability, liquidity, and long-term business performance. You have managed procurement functions where financial discipline was as important as supplier relationships and operational reliability. You know that the lowest purchase price does not always represent the best commercial decision. Payment terms, product quality, delivery performance, contract flexibility, and supplier financial stability all contribute to the true cost of a purchasing agreement. You are comfortable reviewing purchasing budgets, evaluating supplier proposals, analyzing contract economics, and negotiating agreements that create measurable financial value. You understand how procurement influences working capital. Large purchasing commitments, unfavorable payment schedules, excess inventory, and poorly structured supplier agreements can place unnecessary pressure on a company's financial resources. Throughout your career, you have developed strategies that improve purchasing efficiency while maintaining reliable supplier relationships and appropriate operational standards. You can work effectively with financial leadership to evaluate major procurement investments, develop cost forecasts, and establish realistic savings objectives. You also understand the importance of supplier risk management. You know how to assess vendor financial strength, recognize potential supply vulnerabilities, and develop sourcing alternatives that protect business continuity. You bring a practical leadership style, strong commercial negotiation skills, and the ability to establish accountability across procurement activities. You are comfortable challenging purchasing assumptions, recommending alternative sourcing strategies, and making decisions that balance financial performance with business requirements. Most importantly, you view procurement as a strategic business function. You understand how disciplined purchasing, responsible financial management, and effective supplier partnerships contribute to sustainable organizational growth. This position is suited to an accomplished Director of Procurement who wants to apply strategic sourcing expertise, financial management capabilities, and commercial leadership experience to YoshiTech's long-term business development.
