Expert English Teachers to Assess Student Writing (Remote, Ongoing)
Mark My Words is an AI-powered writing assessment platform used by schools in Australia, the US and the UK. We work with writing programs and publishers to give teachers marks and feedback on student writing, and we pay experienced teachers to check that work behind the scenes so our results stay accurate and consistent. We are looking for 3 to 5 expert English or literacy teachers to join our marking team on an ongoing, part-time basis (roughly 10 to 20 hours per week). You will assess de-identified samples of real student writing from primary and secondary year levels against rubrics and writing progressions, using our online platform. Training, rubric documentation and platform access are provided, and you will start with a short paid calibration set. Who we are looking for: - 3+ years of classroom teaching experience in English or literacy (primary or secondary) - Confident marking against assessment rubrics and writing progressions. Experience with the Australian Curriculum, US state standards, Big Write/VCOP, Empowering Writers, 6+1 Traits, Seven Steps or similar frameworks is a plus - Careful, consistent and comfortable with detailed, focused work - Reliable internet and able to commit a regular number of hours each week - Native-level English, based in Australia, the US or the UK Details: - Fully remote with flexible hours - Hourly rate, tracked through Upwork - Ongoing work with a paid calibration trial to start In your proposal, please tell us about your teaching background (year levels and subjects), which writing frameworks or rubrics you have marked against, and how many hours per week you can commit.
