Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. An unnamed DNA sequencing company is hiring a Bioinformatics Scientist to build production-grade workflows and algorithms that turn sequencing data into useful insights. The role also involves shaping user-facing experiences, mentoring teammates, and helping set the function’s technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Architecting production-grade bioinformatics workflows that process thousands of samples per day
- Developing novel algorithms that turn raw sequencing data into fast, intuitive insights
- Translating that science directly into user-facing experiences
- Mentor teammates
- Help set the technical direction of the function
Skills
- PhD in Bioinformatics, CS, Statistics, Physics or similar — with 3+ years building production pipelines
- Deep domain expertise in at least one of: microbial genomics (assembly/metagenomics), variant calling/large-scale genomics, or bulk/single-cell RNA-seq
- Production experience with Nextflow or Snakemake, including cloud deployments
- Strong Python (numpy, pandas, biopython, Jupyter) and solid Linux/Git fundamentals
- A track record of publishing or developing novel bioinformatics algorithms
