Beacon Hill is recruiting for a confidential enterprise client seeking a Data Scientist III to support research and development data standardization, migration, and systems initiatives. The role bridges scientific business needs and technical implementation across LIMS, data engineering, integrations, data quality, governance, and documentation in regulated research environments.
Responsibilities
- Consult with R&D business teams, data owners, and IT partners to understand project needs and translate them into technical requirements
- Design, configure, and support laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and related applications
- Develop and maintain technical specifications, application architectures, database schemas, and system integration plans
- Support data standardization, migration, and implementation activities across research and development
- Design, build, optimize, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases and SQL queries
- Use Python to automate data engineering, migration, reconciliation, and data-quality control activities
- Support system integrations and data-sharing workflows between applications
- Identify and resolve data-quality, database, and integration issues
- Develop and maintain documentation supporting traceability, data governance, and regulated operations
- Support metadata management, master data management, and data lineage in partnership with data owners and technical teams
- Apply data-quality frameworks, automated testing, and reconciliation controls to improve research data reliability
Skills
- U.S. citizenship required
- Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant technical experience, or a master's degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, selecting, or implementing applications
- Experience designing application architecture, technical specifications, database schemas, and system integrations
- Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including query development, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and data-quality activities
- Experience working in Unix or Linux environments
- Experience with laboratory, clinical, scientific, manufacturing, or other regulated data
- Familiarity with LIMS platforms such as LabWare, LabKey, or similar systems
- Knowledge of data governance, master data management, metadata management, and data lineage
- Experience with data-quality frameworks, automated testing, and data reconciliation controls
- Familiarity with regulated environments such as GxP, GLP, GMP, or CDC-regulated research
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams
