[Remote] DevOps Sr. Automation Engineering Manager – AAP Lifecycle Automation & Platform Engineering

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Infinite is hiring a DevOps Senior Automation Engineering Manager to architect, build, and scale Ansible Automation Platform lifecycle automation across hybrid production environments. The role leads Agile delivery teams and advises the client on migrating Jenkins pipelines to governed automation, accelerating patching and CVE remediation for virtual machines and container workloads.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: own the roadmap and execution plan for implementing AAP and migrating lifecycle automation from Jenkins to Ansible Automation Platform (AAP/AWX), including job templates, workflow templates, execution environments, and RBAC design
• Agile Delivery Leadership: run Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and manage the team's Jira board, ensuring lifecycle, patching, and CVE remediation work is scoped, sequenced, and delivered sprint over sprint
• Hybrid Lifecycle Blueprints: design reference architectures that unify RHEL virtual machine patch/upgrade lifecycles with stateless container service lifecycles across on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring consistent controls across both
• Governance & Compliance: align automation design with secure environment, audit, and change-control requirements, and drive the implementation of approval gates and workflows, secure credential handling, and change evidence
• Ansible Automation Platform / Lifecycle Management (5–10 years): design, deploy, and operate Ansible Automation Platform / AWX at scale, including controller/hub configuration, execution environments, job scheduling, and workflow orchestration for patching, CVE remediation, and version upgrades
• Integrated Toolchain Control: use AAP as the control plane to orchestrate Azure Key Vault (secrets/credential management), Git (source and playbook version control), JFrog Artifactory (artifact and image repository), Kubernetes, and ArgoCD (GitOps continuous delivery) for production workloads
• Container & VM Lifecycle: Manage lifecycle automation across both stateless container services (Docker/Podman image builds, promotion, and deployment) and traditional RHEL VM application workloads, applying consistent patch, CVE, and upgrade practices to each
• Microsoft Azure Platform Automation: extend AAP-driven lifecycle management into Microsoft Azure, covering Azure VM (IaaS) patch and upgrade automation via the Ansible •azure\_rm• collection, and stateless container lifecycle management on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps. Hands-on use of Azure automation languages and tooling, including Bicep and ARM (JSON) templates for infrastructure-as-code, PowerShell (Az module) and Azure CLI (Bash) for scripting, Python (Azure SDK) for custom automation, and YAML for Ansible playbooks and pipeline definitions
• Scrum / Jira Sprint Leadership (5–10 years): lead cross-functional engineering teams through Agile/Scrum delivery cycles, using Jira to plan, track, and report on lifecycle automation epics, stories, and sprint velocity
• Architecture & Scaling: architect the growth of AAP and its connected platforms (Vault, Git, JFrog, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Microsoft Azure) to support increasing workload volume, new business units, and additional bank/government client environments
• CI/CD & Automation Pipelines: build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that hand off from development through pre-production to production and ongoing lifecycle teams, with Ansible as the execution layer
• Team Leadership: lead engineering and automation teams responsible for lifecycle delivery across dev, pre-prod, and production/lifecycle organizations
• Workforce Transformation: upskill traditional Jenkins-focused engineers into AAP-centric, GitOps-driven automation practitioners
• Delivery Governance: track sprint throughput, patch/CVE SLA adherence, and platform upgrade cadence, reporting status and risk to leadership and client stakeholders

Skills

• Resource should have good experience in AAP (Ansible Automation)
• Ansible Automation Platform / Lifecycle Management (5–10 years): design, deploy, and operate Ansible Automation Platform / AWX at scale, including controller/hub configuration, execution environments, job scheduling, and workflow orchestration for patching, CVE remediation, and version upgrades

• Deep hands-on expertise with Ansible Automation Platform / AWX, HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, Git, JFrog Artifactory, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD
• Proven experience with Docker/Podman container image workloads and stateless container service lifecycle management
• Strong background in RHEL VM lifecycle: patching, rapid CVE remediation, and version upgrades at enterprise scale
• Experience migrating legacy Jenkins pipelines to modern AAP-controlled automation
• Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience automating both Azure VM (IaaS) and stateless container (AKS/Azure Container Apps) lifecycles, using Bicep, ARM (JSON) templates, PowerShell (Az module), Azure CLI, Python (Azure SDK), and the Ansible azure\_rm collection
• Client/Stakeholder Presence: demonstrated ability to present lifecycle automation strategy and delivery status to bank and government client stakeholders and internal leadership
• Leadership: demonstrated success architecting and scaling automation platforms while leading Agile delivery teams in regulated, security-sensitive environments
