Remote Position
[Remote] Director of Brand & Marketing
🌍 Remote · United States
💼 Full-time
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa is hiring a Director of Brand & Marketing to own the resort’s marketing function and build its brand. The role leads brand voice, email and content strategy, paid media, PR and influencer programs, retreat outreach, and direct-to-consumer retail and subscription initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Own the brand voice — develop and maintain a brand voice guide that captures what Mas Olas sounds like across every channel. Then write in it, and ensure everything that goes out sounds like it
- Activate the 50,000-person email list — segment it, build behavioral automation flows, launch the "Letters from Todos Santos" editorial newsletter and drive measurable direct booking revenue from owned channels
- Lead content strategy across Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and email — developing the editorial calendar, art-directing content shoots, managing the fractional content creator, and ensuring every post earns its place
- Build and manage the paid media program — working with a paid media agency on Google Search and Meta/Instagram campaigns targeting California, Texas, New York, and key Mexican markets (CDMX, Monterrey, Guadalajara)
- Run the PR and influencer program — managing a boutique PR agency, orchestrating 8–10 influencer property visits per year, and pitching the brand's editorial stories to Condé Nast Traveler, Bon Appétit, Travel + Leisure, and AD México
- Drive the retreat practitioner program — in partnership with the retreat coordinator, developing the content and outreach strategy that attracts longevity physicians, wellness practitioners, and creative retreat leaders to book Sunday–Thursday residencies
- Attend the weekly commercial team meeting — bringing marketing performance data, upcoming campaign calendar, and channel intelligence to the shared conversation with sales and revenue management
- Manage a lean team of fractional specialists — content creator, email specialist, paid media agency, PR agency, and retreat coordinator — holding each accountable to performance and budget
- Build the DTC retail and subscription strategy — developing the Botanica apothecary retail line, coffee subscription, and branded product program that extends the guest relationship beyond the stay
Skills
- You think like an editor
- You have personally built a direct audience of some kind — an email list, a social following, a newsletter, a community — that grew because people genuinely wanted to hear from you
- You understand why they subscribed and why they stayed
- You are fluent in email marketing strategy at a segmentation and automation level, not just a send-and-blast level
- You know what a behavioral trigger sequence is and you have built one
- You have managed paid social campaigns (Meta/Instagram) including creative direction, audience targeting, and performance optimization against a booking or conversion goal — not just a reach goal
- You have a strong aesthetic point of view
- You care about typefaces, photography quality, and caption length
- You have opinions about what makes a brand feel luxurious versus try-hard
- You can manage agencies and hold them accountable without micromanaging them
- You know the difference between giving good creative direction and approving mediocre work
- You are self-directed and comfortable in ambiguity
- There is no playbook here yet
- You are the one who writes it
- You are genuinely excited about Todos Santos, Baja, Mexican culture, and the specific kind of barefoot-luxury guest this resort attracts
- This is not a job for someone who needs to be sold on the location
- 7–12 years total marketing experience with at least 4 years in a senior brand or marketing leadership role
- Your background might be in a DTC wellness brand, a food or travel media company, a lifestyle hospitality group (Soho House, Ace Hotel, 1 Hotels, Auberge, Graduate), or a luxury consumer brand
- We are less interested in your years in hospitality than in your depth of brand-building experience
- You speak English and Spanish fluently, or are willing to work closely with a native Spanish-language copywriter
- The person this role requires has probably spent more time in direct-to-consumer brands, food media, wellness, or lifestyle publishing than in hotels
- That is a qualification, not a disqualifier
