Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. GSD Search, LLC is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a senior, cross-functional software engineering team supporting a large-scale, cloud-based financial platform. The role focuses on people leadership, execution, architecture, reliability, scalability, technical debt reduction, and engineering process maturity.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of approximately 15 software engineers
- Drive execution, accountability, planning, estimation, and predictable delivery
- Partner closely with Product Management and Agile/Scrum leadership
- Participate in architecture, system design, code reviews, and technical decision-making
- Help address technical debt and improve platform reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Coach and develop senior engineers while building a collaborative, high-performing culture
- Help mature engineering processes without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy
Skills
- • 2+ years of Engineering Management experience, ideally managing 10-20 engineers
- • Strong software engineering background with the technical depth to lead senior engineers
- • Experience with Kotlin, Java, or similar backend technologies
- • Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture
- • Cloud-based software development and deployment experience
- • Proven ability to improve engineering execution, delivery, architecture, and technical processes
- • Strong Agile/product development experience
- • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- • Kotlin / Java • Spring Boot • Microservices • Kubernetes • Apache Kafka • GraphQL • PostgreSQL • GitLab / CI/CD • Google Cloud Platform • TypeScript / Python
- Experience with the exact technology stack is not required
- Location: 100% Remote - U.S
- Hours: Primarily Eastern Time
- Financial services, fintech, insurance, or annuities experience is a plus but not required
