Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Terracon is hiring a GIS Analyst I to deliver accurate, current geospatial data and visualizations supporting its projects and corporate initiatives. The role determines data sources, develops workflows, creates maps and models, supports field data collection, and maintains geospatial documentation and metadata.
Responsibilities
- Acquire, manage, and maintain geospatial datasets for all Service Lines
- Perform spatial analysis and create visualizations to support project objectives
- Develop and document technical workflows, maps, exhibits, and models
- Configure and provide field data collection tools meeting accuracy and attribution criteria
- Ensure the accuracy, currency, and integrity of all GIS project data
- Maintain metadata and technical documentation for all geospatial assets
- Validate that GIS deliverables comply with corporate standards and quality guidelines
- Collaborate with project teams to identify appropriate data sources and methods
- Troubleshoot GIS software and data issues, providing timely resolutions
- Assist in training staff on GIS tools and best practices as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, or related field
- 1–2 years of professional GIS experience
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and/or QGIS
- Experience in data acquisition, management, and spatial analysis
- Ability to create clear, professional maps, charts, and models
- Knowledge of GPS and mobile data collection tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with metadata standards (e.g., FGDC, ISO) preferred
