About brighthush

brighthush is a trailblazing healthcare solutions provider that has been redefining the patient experience for over thirty years. With a focus on transparency, compassion, and operational excellence, we empower patients, providers, and payers alike to navigate the complex world of medical billing and insurance with confidence. Our mission is simple: streamline the billing journey so that patients can concentrate on what truly matters—receiving the care they need. As we expand our footprint across the United States, we are seeking dedicated professionals who share our passion for service and thrive in a dynamic, remote‑first environment.

Why This Role Matters

As a Remote Healthcare Customer Service Representative, you will be the frontline advocate for patients facing intricate billing and insurance questions. Your expertise will help patients understand their financial responsibilities, explore flexible payment options, and resolve outstanding balances. By doing so, you’ll directly contribute to brighthush’s reputation for outstanding patient service and to the financial health of our partner organizations. In short, you’ll be the bridge that turns confusion into clarity, and frustration into relief.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls from patients, law offices, insurance carriers, and other external stakeholders to resolve billing and insurance inquiries.
  • Provide clear, accurate explanations of deductibles, co‑insurance, co‑pays, and other cost‑sharing arrangements.
  • Investigate and resolve complex denials, charge disputes, claim resubmissions, eligibility issues, and coding disputes.
  • Review financial statements and recommend payment plans or assistance programs in line with client guidelines.
  • Navigate and document interactions using brighthush’s internal systems and third‑party platforms such as Artiva, Cerner Soarian, and EPIC.
  • Maintain meticulous account notes, codes, and documentation with minimal errors.
  • Adhere to all privacy regulations, including HIPAA, and safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) such as call volume, successful payment resolution rate, and call quality scores.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—billing, collections, and compliance—to ensure seamless patient experiences.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required); associate’s degree or higher in health administration, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a call center or healthcare customer service environment.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing, coding, and insurance processes.
  • Proficiency with multiple computer applications and databases; comfortable navigating complex systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) quickly and accurately.
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently in a remote setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive personal information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Prior supervisory experience is a strong advantage for those interested in future leadership roles.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with Artiva, Cerner Soarian, or EPIC systems.
  • Knowledge of payer policies, billing guidelines, and reimbursement cycles.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Empathy and patience when dealing with patients who may be frustrated or anxious.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Career Growth & Development

At brighthush, we view every role as a stepping stone to greater responsibility. Successful representatives may advance to:

  • Team Lead – Mentor new hires, manage daily operations, and drive team performance.
  • Billing Analyst – Dive deeper into data, analyze trends, and recommend process improvements.
  • Collections Specialist – Focus on advanced payment strategies and debt recovery.
  • Compliance Officer – Ensure adherence to regulatory standards across all patient interactions.

We provide access to industry certifications, tuition reimbursement, and a robust mentorship program to help you reach your career goals.
