WECTEC Staffing Services is recruiting for an unnamed client seeking a Project Engineer focused on thermal management for utility-scale energy storage. The role supports battery energy storage projects from design through commissioning, providing engineering oversight and coordinating technical work with project teams and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate design aspects of major components for utility-scale energy storage projects
- Prepare technical scopes of work for thermal management studies and designs for incorporation into contract documents
- Support projects from conception through commissioning, including on-site commissioning activities
- Provide engineering guidance to project teams and oversee external Engineers of Record
- Collaborate with suppliers on equipment sizing, controls, technology compatibility, and integration
- Partner with multi-disciplined teams on problem solving, system integration, and process improvement
- Identify value engineering opportunities and track emerging technologies
Skills
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Subject matter expertise in thermal management for energy storage systems, including one or more of: hydronic HVAC, air-cooled HVAC, battery heat generation/dissipation, or BESS design
- Hands-on experience with VRF, hydronic, and air-side HVAC systems
- Knowledge of energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power * conversion units, and DC/DC converters
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards: UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable IFC/IBC sections
