[Remote] Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

SoTalent is seeking a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to build and maintain scalable automated testing solutions across web, mobile, and API-driven applications. The role focuses on quality engineering, CI/CD integration, location-based feature testing, AI-assisted practices, and collaboration across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web, iOS, and Android applications
• Develop reusable, maintainable, and efficient automated test suites that improve quality coverage and release confidence
• Enhance test automation architecture to support evolving product and business requirements
• Establish automation best practices, coding standards, and testing strategies across the development lifecycle
• Drive automation-first quality engineering practices throughout the organization
• Develop and execute automated test cases covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios
• Validate user experiences across web and mobile platforms
• Support testing efforts for new product features, enhancements, and application releases
• Ensure application stability, performance, and usability across supported environments and devices
• Identify edge cases and potential quality risks early in the development process
• Build automated API testing frameworks and service validation solutions
• Develop coded API tests that verify functionality, reliability, security, and data integrity
• Validate backend services, integrations, and microservice interactions
• Monitor service quality and identify issues before production deployment
• Support end-to-end testing across APIs, applications, and integrated systems
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid delivery
• Maintain the health, reliability, and execution performance of automated testing environments
• Monitor automated test executions and resolve flaky or unstable tests
• Support release readiness activities through automated quality validation
• Partner with engineering teams to improve development and deployment workflows
• Develop testing strategies for location-aware and sensor-based application functionality
• Create solutions for GPS simulation, route replay, geolocation testing, and device sensor validation
• Validate location-dependent workflows and mobile user experiences
• Ensure reliable testing coverage for platform-specific behaviors and mobile operating systems
• Support complex testing scenarios involving real-world mobile interactions
• Leverage AI-powered development and testing tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance, and issue analysis
• Evaluate opportunities to improve quality engineering efficiency through AI-assisted workflows
• Help define best practices for utilizing AI within testing and quality assurance processes
• Identify automation opportunities that reduce manual testing effort and improve delivery speed
• Support innovation and continuous improvement in quality engineering practices
• Perform targeted exploratory testing where human judgment provides the greatest value
• Execute focused regression and feature validation testing when required
• Identify usability issues, workflow gaps, and customer-impacting defects
• Verify software behavior in complex and ambiguous use cases
• Ensure both automated and manual testing approaches contribute to overall product quality
• Document, track, and manage software defects with clear reproduction steps and impact assessments
• Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently
• Maintain accurate quality metrics, test results, and release readiness reporting
• Communicate quality risks, recommendations, and testing outcomes to stakeholders
• Support continuous improvement of defect prevention and resolution processes
• Partner closely with product managers, software engineers, designers, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
• Provide testing estimates and quality recommendations during planning activities
• Promote a culture where quality is embedded throughout product development
• Ensure testability is considered during solution design and implementation

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering
• 2+ years of experience developing and maintaining automated testing solutions
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and Agile development practices
• Experience supporting both web and mobile application testing initiatives
• Experience building automation frameworks using:
• Playwright
• Cypress
• Selenium or similar tools
• Strong automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing expertise
• Experience with mobile testing technologies such as:
• Maestro
• Appium
• XCUITest
• Espresso
• IOS and Android testing experience
• Strong programming skills in:
• Python
• JavaScript / TypeScript
• Java
• Ability to design maintainable automation solutions using modern engineering practices
• Experience developing automated API tests in code
• Knowledge of RESTful services, API validation, and integration testing
• Ability to verify backend functionality beyond manual tools and collections
