[Remote] SAP ERP Finance Configuration Lead

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Aptino, Inc. is seeking an SAP ERP Finance Configuration Lead to design, configure, implement, and support SAP Finance solutions. The role leads end-to-end delivery, integrations, testing, financial process optimization, production support, and coordination with business and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the configuration and customization of SAP FI/CO modules based on business and statutory requirements
• Configure and maintain:
• General Ledger Accounting (GL)
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Asset Accounting (AA)
• Bank Accounting and payment processes
• Tax configuration and withholding tax
• Cost Center Accounting and Profit Center Accounting
• Internal Orders and related controlling processes
• Financial closing and reporting processes
• Design and maintain company codes, chart of accounts, fiscal year variants, posting periods, document types, number ranges, field status groups, and account determination
• Configure automatic account determination, payment terms, payment methods, tolerance groups, and reconciliation accounts
• Support intercompany accounting, foreign currency valuation, recurring entries, accruals, and financial statement reporting
• Review solution designs and ensure compliance with SAP best practices and business requirements
• Conduct workshops with Finance and Controlling teams to understand business processes and requirements
• Analyze existing financial processes and recommend SAP-enabled process improvements
• Prepare business requirement documents, functional specifications, configuration documents, and process flows
• Map business requirements to standard SAP functionality and identify configuration gaps
• Recommend standard solutions while minimizing unnecessary custom developments
• Lead SAP Finance activities across the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
• Manage configuration activities for SAP implementations, rollouts, upgrades, and enhancement projects
• Coordinate with ABAP developers and technical teams for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows
• Manage transport requests and configuration movement across development, quality assurance, and production environments
• Ensure deliverables are completed within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards
• Ensure seamless integration of SAP Finance with:
• Materials Management (MM) for procurement, inventory, and invoice verification
• Sales and Distribution (SD) for billing, revenue accounting, and customer receivables
• Production Planning (PP) for production costs and variance analysis, where applicable
• Project System (PS) for project costs and settlement, where applicable
• Treasury, banking, and external financial systems, where applicable
• Analyze and resolve integration issues affecting financial postings and reconciliation
• Prepare and review functional test scenarios, test scripts, and expected results
• Lead unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Support financial master data and transactional data migration, reconciliation, and validation
• Coordinate cutover planning, opening balance migration, reconciliation, and go-live readiness
• Resolve defects and ensure critical finance processes operate correctly before production deployment
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
• Configure and validate financial reporting, balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and management reports
• Ensure SAP Finance processes support applicable accounting policies, statutory requirements, tax regulations, and internal controls
• Support audit requirements, financial reconciliations, and documentation of key controls
• Troubleshoot posting errors, reconciliation differences, and financial reporting issues
• Lead and mentor SAP Finance functional consultants and support team members
• Allocate configuration and testing activities and review team deliverables
• Coordinate with Finance leadership, business process owners, technical teams, project managers, and external implementation partners
• Track project risks, issues, dependencies, and action items
• Provide regular status updates to project leadership and recommend corrective actions where necessary
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex SAP Finance incidents
• Manage change requests, enhancements, and service improvement initiatives
• Monitor recurring issues and implement preventive solutions
• Maintain configuration documentation, functional specifications, and knowledge-transfer materials
• Support system upgrades, SAP releases, and adoption of new Finance capabilities

Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP FI/CO configuration
• Good understanding of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, and Controlling
• Experience with organizational structure, master data, document posting, account determination, and financial reporting configuration
• Knowledge of integration between FI/CO and MM, SD, and other relevant SAP modules
• Experience with SAP implementation methodology, testing, data migration, cutover, and production support
• Understanding of financial accounting principles, internal controls, and statutory reporting
• Ability to analyze complex functional issues and provide sustainable solutions
• Experience preparing functional specifications and coordinating with ABAP and integration teams
