Remote Position
[Remote] Senior Mobile Engineer
🌍 Remote · United States
💼 Full-time
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. HIRECLOUT is partnering with an unnamed technology-enabled services company seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer. The role owns mobile architecture, delivery, release, and production health while helping set technical direction for a shared mobile platform.
Responsibilities
- Own a mobile product area end to end, including its architecture, delivery, release path, and production behavior, as well as the shared capabilities other teams rely on
- Set technical direction for the mobile platform and shape the shared architecture behind a codebase that ships multiple apps, deciding what stays shared and what diverges
- Turn hard mobile problems into executable plans: frame the problem, sequence the work, and define what “done” looks like on a real device, with specs clear enough for AI agents to execute against
- Partner with Product, Design, and QA to shape solutions, bringing release mechanics, app-version adoption, device and OS behavior, and accessibility into decisions early
- Define how success is measured for your area using adoption, reliability, performance, and crash signals
- Own mobile production and platform health: lead incident response, ensure release and rollback readiness, stay ahead of OS, SDK, and store-policy changes, and turn recurring failures into structural fixes
- Remain accountable for the full mobile lifecycle within your area, including architecture, implementation, testing, review, release, and production
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial mobile experience
- Experience shipping and operating production mobile apps at meaningful scale, with comfort in App Store and Google Play releases, staged rollouts, OTA updates, and production support
- Strong mobile architecture fundamentals: state and data management, caching, persistence, offline behavior, navigation, and performance, and the tradeoffs behind your choices
- Ability to work below the React Native abstraction: read and debug Swift or Kotlin, diagnose native crashes and build issues, and work with native modules and third-party SDKs
- Ability to design and verify a testing strategy, knowing what belongs at the unit, integration, end-to-end, and device level
- Systematic approach to diagnosing performance and reliability problems using profiling, crash diagnostics, and production telemetry rather than guessing
- Experience designing for mobile security, privacy, and accessibility: secure storage, authentication and session handling, sensitive-data flows, third-party SDK risk, and accessible patterns with VoiceOver and TalkBack
- Strong software engineering fundamentals beyond the mobile UI: APIs, data models, authentication flows, and service integrations
- Technical leadership: turning ambiguous problems into sound designs, explaining tradeoffs, reviewing others' work with depth, and helping other engineers grow
- Already works AI-first: agentic tools are a primary surface for planning, implementation, testing, and review; delegates well-scoped work, catches plausible-but-wrong APIs and platform behavior, and remains accountable for what ships
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future. This position does not offer sponsorship
- React Native + Expo (strongly preferred)
- Experience with Jest, Maestro, or similar testing tooling
- Experience with Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, Go, or similar
- Experience with Expo/EAS at scale
- Multi-app architecture on a shared codebase
- Contributions to open-source React Native tooling
