Remote Position
[Remote] Senior Product Designer
๐ Remote ยท United States
๐ผ Full-time
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The confidential client is seeking a contract Senior Product Designer to help deliver customer-centered NYL360 experiences across web and/or mobile. The role focuses on detailed design, production handoffs, design QA, and ongoing roadmap enhancements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Turn ambiguous problems into clear flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-Client prototypes, grounded in user needs, business goals, and platform constraints
- Create production prototypes engineers can build without guessing: component usage, states, responsive behavior, content guidance, accessibility notes, and edge cases (errors, empty states, loading, and recovery)
- Leverage and extend the NYL360 design system. Contribute shared components, patterns, and documentation so screens are consistent, scalable, and fast to build
- Own visual and design QA. Review NYL360 builds, log defects, and partner with engineers to resolve them before release so we ship what we intended
- Support a continuous roadmap of new features and enhancements across concurrent sprints
- Design and refine core NYL360 workflows (e.g., navigation, dashboards, servicing tasks, forms, document and data review, and key decision points) across web and/or mobile
- Work from analytics, usability feedback, support drivers, and stakeholder input to identify friction, prioritize fixes and enhancements, and translate findings into designs that move the numbers
- Keep specs, documentation, and pattern libraries current as NYL360 grows so the team can move faster with each release
- Collaborate daily with Product Owners/Managers, Engineering, and Implementation teams to shape sprint plans (refinement, sprint planning, and retros), drive alignment and decisions, and keep design ahead of development
- Manage your workload across concurrent sprints, balancing near-term production work with design for upcoming enhancements
- Respond quickly to questions during build, unblock engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs without compromising quality
- Track and communicate the impact of design decisions after launch (e.g., task success, time-to-complete, adoption, and user satisfaction) and use them to shape NYL360 enhancements
- Advocate for the customer in cross-functional discussions, using evidence to align stakeholders on the right problems to solve
- Contribute to co-creation and a culture of design quality by joining working sessions (story mapping, journey mapping, design studios, and critique) and partnering with the Lead Product Designer and design peers to keep a high quality bar
Skills
- Portfolio required: Please include a portfolio or case studies as a document or link with your resume when applying (including any passwords)
- 5+ years of digital product design experience, with a track record of shipping high-quality, production-ready work across product types (e.g., responsive web, apps, portals, workflow tools)
- Strong detailed design skills: high-Client UI, design systems, responsive and multi-breakpoint design, and detailed developer handoff
- Experience supporting a product after launch, iterating on live features through a continuous roadmap of enhancements
- Experience designing in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams; comfortable moving from concept to delivery and staying through QA
- Experience presenting work to senior stakeholders and clearly articulating and defending design decisions
- Experience designing complex, structured systems such as dashboards, portals, data-heavy workflows, and form-based experiences
- Strong command of interaction design, visual design, and UX writing collaboration
- Experience with AI-augmented design workflows (e.g., Figma AI, Claude Design, ChatGPT, NotebookLM) with measurable efficiency gains; able to review AI-generated outputs for quality and compliance and lead AI toolset adoption across the team
- Expert in Figma: components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and Dev Mode handoff
- Comfortable with Adobe Creative Suite and collaborative whiteboarding tools (e.g., FigJam, Miro)
- Familiarity with technical architecture concepts (service-oriented architecture, micro-services, data models) and front-end basics (HTML, CSS)
- Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
- Comfortable using qualitative + quantitative inputs to prioritize and iterate on live features
- Strong communication skills; able to align cross-functional collaborators and give engineers clear, actionable direction
- Meticulous attention to detail across states, edge cases, and content, with a pragmatic sense of what to ship now versus later
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, HCI) or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in life insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries designing complex application or servicing experiences
- Experience designing AI-powered features (e.g., personalized recommendations or assistive guidance) with attention to Responsible AI and privacy-by-design practices
- Experience shipping designs across a range of front ends (e.g., content management systems, low/no-code platforms, framework-based front ends, native apps)
- Experience with experimentation (A/B testing), personalization, and optimization of key journeys (adoption, task completion, and engagement)
- Advocates for accessibility best practices, with deep knowledge of ADA compliance and WCAG guidelines, and experience embedding them into design solutions
Benefits
- Open to hybrid or fully remote candidates located anywhere in the U.S. for the right individual.
