[Remote] Social Media Director (Equity Pay Initially)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Aebly Media is a news network with an investigative and civic-tech focus. The Social Media Director will own the company’s voice and strategy across platforms, create and coordinate social-ready content, and grow audience engagement and reach.

Responsibilities

• Own Aebly Media’s social media strategy, voice, and presence across TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Snapchat, and Facebook
• Plan and manage the content calendar, posting cadence, and campaigns across all platforms
• Create and oversee short-form content that turns Aebly’s journalism, features, and launches into engaging, platform-native posts
• Grow audience, engagement, and reach through organic strategy and trend awareness
• Coordinate with content creators, editors, and the editorial team to turn coverage into social-ready content
• Track performance analytics and use what’s working to sharpen strategy
• Manage community engagement, comments, and the brand’s public voice
• Maintain a consistent visual and editorial identity true to Aebly’s brand

Skills

• Experience managing social media accounts and growing an audience, ideally for a brand, publisher, or creator
• Strong understanding of short-form content and what performs on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts
• A sharp sense for voice, timing, and trends in a fast-moving feed
• Comfortable creating or directing content — writing hooks, guiding edits, shaping visuals
• Data-aware — you read analytics and adjust
• Organized enough to run a multi-platform calendar without dropping the ball
• Experience in news, media, politics, or civic content
• Hands-on skills with design or video tools (Canva, Figma, CapCut, Premiere, After Effects)
• A track record of growing an account or going viral
• Community management experience
• Interest in politics, current events, and media literacy
