Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Shift is hiring a Software Engineer to make practical software changes based on defined technical requirements. The role includes debugging, documenting implementation decisions, improving performance and reliability, and testing code changes before release.
Responsibilities
- Review logs and debugging output to isolate software errors
- Document important implementation decisions and technical limitations
- Improve straightforward performance or reliability issues within scope
- Follow established practices for handling credentials and sensitive data
- Add or update unit tests for code you modify
- Work with APIs and handle ordinary data validation or error cases
- Check code changes locally before submitting them for testing
Skills
- Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks in a remote team
- Basic familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Attention to code quality, security, and clear technical communication
- Working ability in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or C#
- Ability to write and interpret simple automated tests
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
