[Remote] Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EA Risk helps agricultural producers and related businesses manage commodity price risk through brokerage, insurance, advisory services, and market intelligence. The Software Engineer will build and improve applications and supporting services, collaborate with product and business partners, and own work from design through release while improving reliability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve application features and the services that support them
• Design systems that reflect the complexity of agricultural operations and commodity risk management
• Deliver maintainable, testable code with appropriate documentation
• Work with Product to clarify requirements, explore tradeoffs, and deliver features incrementally
• Review code and technical designs, offering feedback that improves both the solution and the team’s understanding
• Investigate production issues and improve application reliability, security, and performance
• Use AI development tools to increase your effectiveness and tackle unfamiliar problems, validating their output through review and testing
• Take responsibility for work from the initial problem through release and follow-up improvements

Skills

• * Strong software engineering fundamentals and sound judgment about design and implementation
• * Meaningful experience in one or more relevant areas, such as single-page web applications, backend APIs, or native mobile development. Different combinations of experience can be a strong fit
• * The ability to contribute to a TypeScript-based web stack. Existing TypeScript experience is valuable, along with the ability to learn quickly
• * The ability to understand an existing system, diagnose problems, and make thoughtful improvements
• * Substantial current use of AI development tools, with examples of how they support your engineering work
• * Initiative, clear communication, and the ability to work independently on a remote team
• We value engineering capability over a particular framework, degree, or fixed number of years of experience
• * Native mobile development experience is a plus
• Experience in agriculture, commodities, financial services, or insurance is also helpful
