[Remote] Software Engineer

Floor Coverings International Kalamazoo is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain application features using established engineering practices and clear technical requirements. The role focuses on readable code, testing, defect investigation, and collaboration on technical requirements in a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Add or update unit tests for code you modify
• Work with APIs and handle ordinary data validation or error cases
• Check code changes locally before submitting them for testing
• Collaborate on technical requirements and clarify missing acceptance criteria
• Write readable code that follows existing project conventions
• Investigate reported defects and reproduce issues before fixing them
• Document important implementation decisions and technical limitations

Skills

• Understanding of functions, data structures, and common debugging techniques
• Comfort reading API documentation and existing code
• Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks in a remote team
• Basic familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Attention to code quality, security, and clear technical communication
