Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous, self‑motivated Seasonal Remote Data Entry Processor to join our Operations team. This full‑time, work‑from‑home position is ideal for professionals with 3‑5 years of experience in medical insurance billing, coding, or customer care who excel at navigating complex data sets, interpreting benefit structures, and delivering error‑free entry work. As a critical member of the brighthush family, you will support enrollment cycles, premium calculations, and member record updates while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter, verify, and update member information—including dependents, newborn additions, terminations, and coverage changes—using brighthush’s proprietary data‑entry platform that mirrors Excel functionality.
- Interpret enrollment applications, resolve name and date‑of‑birth mismatches, and ensure that all data uploaded to the system reflects the correct benefit elections.
- Calculate premiums, deductibles, and co‑pay amounts accurately, applying the appropriate plan rules and coverage structures.
- Perform detailed audits of entered data to identify and correct discrepancies before they affect downstream processing.
- Collaborate virtually with the Team Lead, Supervisors, and cross‑functional partners to clarify multi‑step instructions and resolve complex scenarios.
- Participate in a structured onboarding program, complete a required assessment within the training period, and demonstrate a typing speed of at least 40 wpm.
- Provide timely, courteous support to members and internal stakeholders when questions arise regarding enrollment status or benefit eligibility.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and brighthush’s data‑security policies.
- Continuously seek process‑improvement opportunities, offering feedback on system usability and workflow efficiency.
- Adapt quickly to new tools, software updates, and procedural changes while working independently in a remote environment.
Essential Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in medical insurance billing, coding, or member‑service roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet‑style applications; while advanced formulas are not required, comfort with Excel‑like interfaces is essential.
- Strong analytical mindset with a deep‑dive approach to problem solving and an unwavering attention to detail.
- Ability to follow multi‑step directions, navigate multiple systems simultaneously, and manage high‑volume data entry tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear articulation of complex benefit concepts.
- Proven ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute and solid overall computer literacy.
- Prior remote work experience is preferred, demonstrating self‑discipline and effective virtual collaboration.
- Willingness to accept constructive feedback and continuously refine performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) or a related credential.
- Experience with health‑plan enrollment platforms, claims management systems, or similar industry‑specific software.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and data‑privacy best practices.
- Background in customer service or member support, especially in high‑volume call‑center environments.
- Demonstrated success in a fast‑paced, seasonal hiring cycle.
Skills & Competencies for Success
- Detail Orientation: Ability to spot inconsistencies, typographical errors, and data mismatches that could affect member coverage.
- Critical Thinking: Evaluate complex enrollment scenarios and make sound decisions regarding refunds, premium adjustments, and benefit eligibility.
- Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively to meet daily and weekly productivity targets.
- Technical Agility: Quickly learn new software tools, shortcuts, and system updates.
- Communication: Convey technical information in plain language to both internal teams and external members.
