About brighthush

brighthush is at the forefront of the AI infrastructure revolution, building a unified platform that connects compute demand with a fragmented global supply of GPUs, data centers, and cloud providers. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: make every spare electron productive for AI. By enabling seamless, reliable, and cost‑effective compute access, we empower researchers, model builders, and inference providers to focus on innovation rather than logistics.

In a world where AI workloads are growing exponentially, the traditional vertically‑integrated model can’t scale. brighthush bridges that gap by aggregating capacity from hyperscalers, neoclouds, and independent data centers into a single, intuitive interface. This not only unlocks hidden idle capacity but also creates a marketplace where unused GPU hours can be monetized, turning idle resources into revenue streams for providers.

Over the next five years, we aim to shape the AI infrastructure market, becoming the go‑to platform for any organization that needs high‑performance compute at scale. If you’re passionate about building systems that power the next wave of AI innovation, brighthush is the place to be.

The Role: Senior Backend Engineer – Customer Tools

As a key member of our Customer Tools team, you will architect and build the software that allows AI labs to manage their compute clusters as a single, unified fleet. You’ll work closely with principal engineers, product managers, and customers to deliver a product that simplifies cluster onboarding, provides real‑time visibility, and unlocks idle GPU capacity for marketplace trading.

Your day-to-day will involve designing backend services in Go, orchestrating Kubernetes clusters, managing PostgreSQL data models, and delivering a TypeScript console that brings all the data to the user’s fingertips. You’ll also be the on‑call guardian of the system, ensuring uptime and continuously improving reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management Engine: Build and maintain the core service that aggregates clusters from multiple providers into a single logical fleet per customer.
  • Visibility & Analytics: Design telemetry pipelines that capture health, usage, spend, and alerts across all clusters, and expose them through dashboards and APIs.
  • Identity & Access Management: Implement multi‑tenant authorization, SSO integration, and role‑based access controls that span all customer clusters.
  • Idle Capacity Marketplace: Create the logic that identifies idle GPUs, exposes them to the marketplace, and orchestrates their re‑allocation when demand spikes.
  • Customer‑Driven Innovation: Own the end‑to‑end delivery of features, from gathering requirements to shipping production code, and iterate based on real‑world feedback.
  • On‑call & Reliability: Serve on the pager rotation, diagnose incidents, and implement improvements that reduce alert noise and downtime.

Essential Qualifications

  • Deep Technical Expertise: Proven experience building large‑scale, multi‑tenant systems with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
  • Go Mastery: Production‑grade Go experience, with a track record of shipping services that handle high traffic and complex business logic.
  • Kubernetes Fluency: Hands‑on experience interacting with the Kubernetes API, building operators, and managing cluster lifecycle.
  • Telemetry & Observability: Built metrics, logs, and event pipelines that feed into dashboards and alerting systems.
  • Full‑Stack Capability: Ability to ship end‑to‑end features, including a TypeScript/React console that communicates with your backend services.
  • On‑call Experience: Demonstrated ability to handle production incidents, root cause analysis, and post‑mortem ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ML/HPC Infrastructure: Experience with training clusters, Slurm, or other job schedulers from either the operator or researcher perspective.
  • Cloud Console Development: Built developer platforms or cloud consoles that enable engineers to run real workloads.
  • Enterprise Identity Integration: Implemented SSO, SCIM, or other identity provider integrations at scale.
  • Data Movement Expertise: Designed solutions for syncing or replicating large datasets across regions or clusters.
  • Marketplace Architecture: Built or contributed to a marketplace that trades compute resources or other digital assets.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with a bias toward building scalable, maintainable code.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive ownership: you take initiative, own the feature from conception to production, and iterate based on data.
  • Collaboration: thrive in a cross‑functional environment with product, design, and customer success teams.
  • Adaptability: comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and evolving product requirements.
