Senior Customer Success Engineer – B2B Data & AI Integration Specialist at brighthush
About brighthush
brighthush is at the forefront of the data‑driven AI revolution, building the infrastructure that turns autonomous agents from a risky experiment into a reliable, scalable business asset. Our platform delivers continuously refreshed, verified B2B data that powers AI agents for industry leaders such as Clay, ZoomInfo, Dun & Bradstreet, and the next generation of AI‑enabled go‑to‑market (GTM) tools. Since our inception, we have tripled revenue growth while maintaining 100 % gross dollar retention and staying cash‑flow positive. We are now looking for a visionary Customer Success Engineer to help us scale our impact and shape the future of data‑centric AI.
Why This Role Matters
In the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem, the companies that build the future of GTM rely on a solid data foundation. They need a technical partner who can translate complex data capabilities into tangible business outcomes. As the founding hire for this function, you will own the entire customer lifecycle—onboarding, activation, health, and expansion—across every account. Your work will directly influence the success of our customers and the growth trajectory of brighthush.
Key Responsibilities
- First Successful Search Champion: Own the critical milestone of getting each new customer to perform their first successful search quickly and reliably. This is the most important metric you will drive.
- Customer Health Steward: Continuously monitor customer usage, engagement, and risk indicators. Identify silent accounts, high‑value users, and at‑risk customers before they reach out.
- Expansion & Cross‑Sell Lead: As new API surface areas (verification, enrichment, discovery, MCP) are released, assess which customers will benefit most and lead the expansion conversations.
- Scalable Onboarding Architect: Design and execute onboarding processes that can handle 3–5 new customers per month today, scaling to 10+ as we grow. Make onboarding light, fast, and consistently successful.
- Voice of the Customer: Monitor Slack channels, support tickets, integration requests, and product feedback. Translate real‑world customer needs into actionable insights for product and engineering teams.
- Process & Playbook Builder: Write, iterate, and maintain playbooks, health scoring models, expansion frameworks, and onboarding guides. Continuously refine them as the product evolves.
Who You Are
- You have a proven track record in quota‑driven roles—whether NRR, expansion, or retention—and can drive results without being pushy.
- You thrive in early‑stage environments, comfortable with ambiguity, and you write the playbook when none exists.
- You are the most technical non‑developer in any room; developers respect you, and you can dive into code (Python, JSON, SQL) to troubleshoot and demonstrate API calls.
- You are proactive—customers’ success is your outcome, and you act on it immediately.
Must‑Have Skills & Knowledge
- Tech Literacy: Ability to read integration code, spot issues, write small scripts, and engage credibly in technical conversations.
- B2B Data Fluency: Deep understanding of firmographics, technographics, intent signals, and contact enrichment. Know why email bounces, why company name matching is hard, and why verification matters.
- API Mental Model: Mastery of REST, webhooks, rate limits, authentication, and the difference between batch file drops and real‑time API calls. Can walk a customer through integrating our MCP server.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience in B2B data, sales intelligence, or RevOps tooling.
- Experience with MCP servers or LLM‑powered agent workflows.
- Prior founding CS or founding CE experience at an early‑stage company.
First 90 Days Roadmap
- Days 1–30: Shadow every active customer conversation, write queries against our Snowflake environment, sit in on sales and onboarding calls, and map all customers—health, usage, expansion potential, risk.
- Days 31–60: Take ownership of onboarding, run the “first successful search” milestone for every new customer, and publish a customer health scoring framework.
- Days 61–90: Identify and execute your first three expansion opportunities, ship the v1 onboarding playbook, and tell us what you need to do this job 10× better.
What We’re Not Looking For
- Experience at large enterprises (1,000+ employees) with rigid CS processes.
- Someone who needs a playbook to get started.
- Someone seeking a purely relationship role with no technical depth or a purely engineering role with no customer contact.
Why brighthush
- Product with Real Traction: Our platform is trusted by customers in production environments.
- High Ownership: Small team, high impact—your work directly shapes the product.
- Customer‑Driven Culture: Activation and retention are our core success metrics.
- Growth Stage Company: Clear product‑market fit and momentum.
- Impact Over Process: Minimal bureaucracy, maximum building.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus performance‑based equity.
- Meaningful ownership and long‑term growth opportunities.
- Flexible working hours and a fully remote‑friendly team (East Coast / Boston preferred).
- Direct collaboration with founders and core engineering leadership.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance; generous PTO; and a culture that values work‑life balance.
Career Growth & Learning Opportunities
At brighthush, you’ll have the chance to:
- Lead the design and execution of a new customer success function from the ground up.
- Shape product strategy by feeding real‑world customer insights into engineering roadmaps.
- Mentor and hire future customer success leaders once the function scales.
- Participate in cross‑functional initiatives—sales, product, engineering, and marketing—to drive company‑wide impact.
- Attend industry conferences, workshops, and hackathons to stay at the cutting edge of AI and data.
Work Environment & Culture
brighthush is built on a foundation of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our remote‑first culture encourages autonomy while fostering a sense of community through weekly all‑hands meetings, hack days, and informal virtual coffee chats. We celebrate wins—both big and small—and we’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where every voice is heard.
