Senior Full‑Stack Software Engineer – Customer & Vendor Management Systems for Claims Technology
About brighthush
brighthush is redefining the future of claims technology. With a focus on purpose, precision, and outcome‑driven design, we build cloud‑native solutions that seamlessly integrate with carriers, repair shops, appraisers, and logistics partners. Trusted by more than 170 P&C carriers, MGAs, MGUs, TPAs, and logistics firms, our open‑architecture platform is engineered to adapt to the unique workflows of each partner, rather than forcing partners to fit a rigid mold. As a remote‑first, growth‑oriented company, brighthush empowers its people to innovate, learn, and scale alongside the industry’s most dynamic challenges.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full‑Stack Software Engineer to join the Customer & Vendor Management (CVM) team. In this role, you will architect and deliver the self‑service experiences that initiate claims—think online claim reporting, photo capture, and real‑time status updates—while also building robust vendor integrations that connect carriers with repair shops, appraisers, salvage partners, and other third‑party stakeholders. Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and user experience of our core claims engine.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Develop APIs that expose claim lifecycle data to internal and external partners, ensuring high performance and secure access.
- Build Front‑End Experiences using React and TypeScript to create intuitive, mobile‑first interfaces for customers and vendors.
- Model Data Schemas in MySQL and design performant queries that support real‑time analytics and reporting.
- Integrate Vendor Systems via REST, GraphQL, and message queues (RabbitMQ, AWS Lambda) to automate workflows between carriers and third‑party service providers.
- Collaborate with Product & Design to iterate on feature specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria within an Agile framework.
- Mentor Junior Engineers by conducting code reviews, pair programming sessions, and knowledge‑sharing workshops.
- Champion Quality by writing comprehensive unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests, and by participating in continuous integration pipelines.
- Drive Performance & Reliability through profiling, caching strategies (Redis), and monitoring (Elasticsearch, CloudWatch).
- Explore AI‑Assisted Development to streamline code generation, testing, and documentation, staying ahead of emerging trends.
- Contribute to Technical Roadmap by evaluating new technologies, proposing architectural improvements, and aligning with long‑term product goals.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- 5+ years of full‑stack web development experience, with a strong focus on back‑end engineering.
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and React; experience with TypeScript is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of relational database design, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud services (AWS Lambda, S3, CloudFront) and containerization (Docker).
- Familiarity with message queuing (RabbitMQ) and caching (Redis) for building scalable, event‑driven systems.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Passion for quality, performance, and building reliable, user‑centric solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI‑assisted software development (AI SDLC) and generative AI tools.
- Background in claims technology or insurance domain knowledge.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Prior exposure to large‑scale, distributed systems and microservices architecture.
Skills & Competencies
- Full‑stack development: Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, JavaScript.
- Database expertise: MySQL, query optimization, schema design.
- Cloud & infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, S3, CloudFront), Docker, Redis, RabbitMQ.
