Senior Microsoft 365 Migration Lead International M&A Company: Aberdeen Advisors Location: Remote, with ability to work Central/Eastern Time hours Engagement type: Contract with potential for extension and/or conversion Commitment: Full-time project allocation About the opportunity Aberdeen Advisors is seeking a senior Microsoft 365 migration specialist to support the integration of acquired firms for a professional services client. This role will focus on larger international acquisitions, including firms in the UK. You will combine practical advisory expertise with hands-on delivery: helping the IT M&A team anticipate migration challenges, build an executable plan, and lead implementation. We’re looking for someone who can draw on previous migrations to identify risks early and carry the work through completion. What you’ll do Assess incoming firms’ Microsoft 365 environments, dependencies, and migration readiness. Advise the IT M&A team on migration approaches, sequencing, technical constraints, and operational risks. Anticipate challenges such as throttling, migration throughput, identity dependencies, permissions, and coexistence. Develop migration plans, runbooks, validation procedures, and contingency approaches. Lead hands-on migration execution, troubleshoot issues, and support post-migration stabilization. Coordinate with project managers and technical teams across regions to manage dependencies and communicate progress. Document decisions and transfer knowledge to the client’s internal team. What you bring Demonstrated experience planning and executing complex Microsoft 365 migrations, including tenant-to-tenant migrations. Experience supporting M&A integrations or comparable enterprise consolidation programs. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 workloads and their dependencies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Microsoft Entra ID. Practical experience managing migration tooling, throttling, throughput limitations, and cutover issues. The ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly and turn recommendations into an actionable delivery plan. Strong ownership, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills. Helpful experience International or UK migration delivery. Integrating acquired professional services firms. PowerShell scripting and migration automation. Coordinating migrations across multiple organizations and time zones.
