Welcome to brighthush – Pioneering the Future of Finance‑Tech Automation

At brighthush, we are redefining how modern software companies handle research & development (R&D) tax credits and software capitalization. Our AI‑driven platform seamlessly integrates with the tools engineering teams already rely on—such as brighthush and brighthush—to extract meaningful signals from epics, changelogs, comments, and team structures. By turning raw data into rigorous, audit‑ready R&D studies and automated capitalization schedules, we eliminate the need for manual interviews, reduce return‑to‑provision true‑ups, and protect our clients from uncertain‑tax‑position exposure (FIN 48). Finance teams gain confidence, close faster, and focus on strategic growth.

Why This Role Matters

Our customers trust brighthush to translate complex technical and financial data into clear, actionable insights. As a Customer Success Manager, you will be the champion of that trust—guiding clients from the moment they sign on, through every data‑driven cycle, and ultimately to renewal and expansion. Your expertise will directly influence client satisfaction, product adoption, and the long‑term revenue health of brighthush.

Role Overview – Own the Post‑Sale Journey

We are seeking a seasoned Customer Success professional who thrives on building lasting relationships with finance, tax, and engineering stakeholders. You will own a portfolio of high‑impact accounts, ensuring each client experiences the full value of our platform— from onboarding and data integration to ongoing rhythm, insights delivery, and strategic growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Seamless Onboarding: Guide new customers through connecting brighthush and brighthush, gathering payroll and cost data, and establishing timelines for their inaugural R&D study or capitalization cycle.
  • Maintain Ongoing Rhythm: Schedule and execute monthly capitalization updates, data refreshes, and annual R&D study filings, ensuring every deadline is met with precision.
  • Serve as Primary Point of Contact: Address questions, troubleshoot data and integration challenges alongside tax, engineering, and solutions teams, and act as the trusted advisor for CFOs, controllers, tax directors, and external CPAs.
  • Translate Complex Results: Communicate technical and tax outcomes in clear, executive‑friendly language, turning raw analytics into strategic business decisions.
  • Monitor Account Health: Track usage metrics, identify early‑warning signals, and proactively mitigate risks to safeguard retention.
  • Drive Renewals & Expansion: Own the renewal process, uncover upsell opportunities—such as adding software capitalization for existing R&D credit clients—and collaborate with sales to close growth deals.
  • Champion Customer Voice: Gather feedback, relay insights to the product team, and help craft playbooks and documentation that scale success across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in customer success, account management, or implementation within a B2B SaaS environment, preferably serving finance or accounting functions.
  • Strong data fluency: comfortable working with spreadsheets, reconciling messy payroll or cost files, and navigating API integrations without hesitation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify technical or tax concepts for senior executives.
  • Demonstrated track record of juggling multiple accounts and strict deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ownership mindset: you treat retention, renewal rates, and expansion metrics as personal KPIs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications & Nice‑to‑Haves

  • Familiarity with the U.S. R&D tax credit (IRC §41) and ASC 350‑40 software capitalization standards.
  • Experience working in public accounting or a tax advisory firm.
  • Previous exposure to AI‑driven analytics platforms or fintech solutions.
  • Certification in project management (PMP, Scrum) or customer success (CCSP, CSM).

Core Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Acumen: Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and translate findings into business value.
  • Relationship Building: Empathy, active listening, and a consultative approach to foster trust with finance, tax, and engineering leaders.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive troubleshooting of integration issues, data anomalies, and workflow bottlenecks.
  • Strategic Thinking: Recognize expansion opportunities and align them with the client’s long‑term financial objectives.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with product, engineering, tax, and sales teams to deliver a unified client experience.
  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively, manage competing deadlines, and keep the account health dashboard up‑to‑date.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At brighthush, your career trajectory is limited only by your ambition. As a pivotal member of a small, high‑impact team, you will:

  • Gain direct access to senior leadership and product architects, influencing roadmap decisions.
  • Develop deep expertise in AI‑enabled finance technology—a rapidly expanding niche.
  • Participate in continuous learning programs, including certifications in tax law, data analytics, and customer success methodologies.
  • Explore pathways to senior customer success leadership, product management, or strategic account executive roles.
