Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. High Country: Private Equity Search is recruiting for an unnamed real estate investment firm. The Accounting Associate supports accounting and financial operations across a diversified real estate investment platform, including investment accounting, reporting, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day accounting activities across multiple real estate investments and related business entities
- Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, vendor payments, billing, and expense tracking
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and maintain financial schedules, cash flow reports, and supporting documentation for management
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and other financial reporting initiatives
- Coordinate with property management teams to review financial statements, operating results, and property-level accounting information
- Support investment-related accounting activities, including investor distributions, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations
- Work alongside senior leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements and greater efficiency across accounting functions
- Assist with audit preparation, tax reporting support, and other special projects as needed
Skills
- Real estate industry experience required
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close procedures
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial reports and accounting schedules
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
- Ideally 1–5 years of accounting experience in public accounting, private industry, or a combination of both
- Property accounting or real estate investment accounting experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with multiple entities, intercompany transactions, and investment accounting is a plus
- Familiarity with real estate accounting software such as Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar platforms is preferred
