The specialist will manage high‑volume inbound calls, schedule appointments, validate insurance, and maintain meticulous records in our electronic health record (EHR) system.

Key attributes for success include strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a passion for helping people. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy problem‑solving, and are committed to delivering exceptional service, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Navigate the EHR to retrieve, validate, and document patient demographics, clinical history, and financial information while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Schedule patient visits in accordance with provider preferences, verify insurance eligibility, and coordinate pre‑authorization for tests and procedures.
  • Utilize MyChart and other patient portals to guide patients through appointment instructions, medication refills, and symptom‑based care pathways.
  • Escalate complex issues to clinical staff, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining high customer satisfaction scores.
  • Maintain performance metrics such as average speed of answer, abandoned call rate, and average transaction time, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and the clinical team, relaying pertinent information and ensuring a smooth handoff during after‑hours periods.
  • Adhere to safety‑sensitive protocols, remaining alert and focused in a high‑pressure environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute with 90% accuracy (typing test required).
  • Must reside within one hour of St. Louis, Missouri.
  • Availability for full‑time training: 4 weeks, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., starting 11/30/26.
  • No weekend or holiday work required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes and pre‑authorization workflows.
  • Familiarity with patient portal platforms such as MyChart.
  • Prior exposure to a safety‑sensitive role or environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.

Skills & Competencies

  • Customer‑centric mindset with a genuine desire to help patients.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Adaptability to evolving processes and technology.
  • Team collaboration and effective communication with clinical staff.
  • Time‑management skills to meet performance metrics.
