Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. iShift is recruiting for an unnamed US-based client seeking an engineer to support a large-scale migration from VMware vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V. The role focuses on migrating and validating virtual machines, improving migration performance, minimizing downtime, and coordinating production cutovers.
Responsibilities
- Assess existing VMware vSphere and Veeam Backup & Replication configurations
- Troubleshoot migration bottlenecks and improve VM migration performance
- Migrate virtual machines from VMware ESXi/vSphere to Microsoft Hyper-V
- Configure and validate VM settings, virtual networking, storage, and connectivity
- Develop migration runbooks, checklists, and rollback procedures
- Execute migration waves, including large and complex virtual machines
- Perform post-migration validation and troubleshoot boot, driver, and network issues
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams during scheduled maintenance windows
- Document migration progress and provide knowledge transfer to the client's technical team
Skills
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server Failover Clustering
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and VM migration methodologies
- Knowledge of virtual networking, storage, Fibre Channel, and SAN environments
- Experience with production migrations, troubleshooting, and downtime management
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Candidates should have hands-on experience executing enterprise infrastructure migrations
- Experience with Windows Admin Center VM Conversion, Pure Storage, and large-scale enterprise VM migrations
