Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Cognizant is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver modern cloud data platforms for trusted analytics, reporting, and business insights. The role leads platform modernization and builds scalable data pipelines, orchestration, and controls in collaboration with business and technology teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the modernization of legacy data platforms and implement cloud-native solutions using GCP and Databricks
- Design and develop scalable batch and streaming data pipelines that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and data products
- Build and maintain data orchestration frameworks using Apache Airflow and implement CI/CD practices across data engineering solutions
- Establish data quality, observability, governance, and security controls to ensure trusted and reliable data assets
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions while optimizing performance, scalability, and cost
Skills
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Cloud Storage
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and large-scale data engineering initiatives
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, ETL/ELT development, and data modeling
- Experience building and supporting Apache Airflow orchestration workflows and implementing CI/CD practices
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, observability, security, and metadata management frameworks
- Experience integrating SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA data into cloud-based analytics platforms
- Experience migrating Teradata or other legacy data warehouse technologies to modern cloud architectures
- Knowledge of Kafka and real-time data processing solutions
- Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and enterprise production support environments
- Cloud certifications in GCP, Databricks, or related technologies
