🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

About brighthush

brighthush is a trailblazing, AI‑first cloud optimization company that empowers enterprises to dramatically reduce their Google Cloud Platform (GCP) spend. By marrying cutting‑edge generative AI with deep domain expertise in data analytics, brighthush delivers real‑world savings that translate directly into dollars for our customers. Our mission is simple: help organizations unlock the full value of their data workloads while keeping costs under control.

In a world where data is the new oil, the cost of storing, processing, and analyzing that data can quickly become a bottleneck. brighthush tackles this challenge head‑on by providing intelligent, automated cost‑optimization solutions that work seamlessly with GCP’s native services. We partner with Fortune 500 companies, mid‑market leaders, and fast‑growing startups to turn their data pipelines into lean, high‑performance engines that deliver measurable ROI.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Customer Engineer at brighthush, you will be the linchpin between our technology and the businesses that rely on it. Your work will directly influence how much our customers save on their GCP spend, and you will shape the future of our product through hands‑on feedback and real‑time problem solving. If you thrive on solving complex, high‑impact problems and enjoy working closely with enterprise teams, this is the role for you.

In this position you will:

  • Own the full lifecycle of customer adoption, from discovery to measurable savings.
  • Serve as the primary technical advocate for enterprise clients, ensuring their success and satisfaction.
  • Translate customer pain points into product enhancements that drive market differentiation.
  • Lead workshops, training sessions, and deep‑dive troubleshooting to accelerate value realization.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging AI‑first tools to deliver faster, smarter solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Adoption Lead: Own the end‑to‑end onboarding journey for a portfolio of enterprise customers. From initial discovery to configuration, integration, and first measurable savings, you will guide customers through every step of the adoption process.
  • Issue Resolution Champion: Serve as the primary technical contact when customers encounter challenges. Investigate, debug, and resolve issues related to data anomalies, pipeline failures, and BigQuery cost questions.
  • Cost Strategy Advisor: Provide expert guidance on GCP cost strategy, including BigQuery reservation models, slot management, and billing mechanics. Help customers understand how brighthush fits into their broader cost optimization framework.
  • Hands‑On Workshops & Q&A: Conduct technical Q&A sessions, troubleshooting workshops, and hands‑on training with customer teams to accelerate adoption and maximize value.
  • Product Feedback Loop: Relay field insights back to the Product and Engineering teams. Your first‑hand experience with customers will inform product enhancements and new feature development.
  • Custom Solution Builder: When the product cannot immediately address a customer need, design and implement a custom solution that bridges the gap. Your goal is always to integrate that solution back into the platform, avoiding bespoke one‑offs.

How We Work – AI‑First, Agentic by Default

brighthush is built on an AI‑first philosophy. We leverage agentic development practices—Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and other agent‑driven workflows—to accelerate integration, debugging, and customer support. These tools enable you to solve complex problems in hours, not days, and keep our customers moving forward.

Our engineering culture is defined by:

  • Rapid iteration cycles that allow you to test hypotheses and deploy fixes in minutes.
  • Transparent code reviews that foster knowledge sharing and collective ownership.
  • Data‑driven decision making, where every change is measured against real customer outcomes.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical, customer‑facing role such as Customer Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Professional Services, or Technical Account Manager. Hands‑on engineering experience is essential.
  • Deep expertise in BigQuery: slots, reservations, pricing models, INFORMATION_SCHEMA, and query optimization. You will be evaluated on this knowledge.
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Python, Go, Java, or similar) to integrate, script, and debug in customer environments.
  • Hands‑on GCP experience, having worked with production workloads on Google Cloud.
  • Customer‑facing instinct: the ability to lead technical conversations with enterprise teams independently, without an Account Executive’s guidance.
  • Fluency with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) applied to real production work.
  • Autonomy and ownership: thrive in a small, flat organization where you own customer outcomes and drive results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in GCP cost management, FinOps, or cloud billing optimization.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery reservation models, slot pricing, and workload management.
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform on GCP.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks relevant to cloud data platforms.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced SQL, backend scripting, GCP services (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, etc.), and agentic development tools.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to dissect complex data and cost issues, identify root causes, and devise elegant solutions.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and persuasive communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Passion for delivering tangible value and ensuring customer success.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to align on customer needs.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift quickly.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor junior engineers and influence cross‑functional teams.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At brighthush, you will have a clear path to grow from Customer Engineer to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or even Product Manager, depending on your interests. We invest heavily in continuous learning: you will have access to yearly learning hours, language courses, and certifications. Working with senior data architects and engineers on Fortune 500 projects will accelerate your skill set far beyond any classroom experience.

We also encourage:

  • Participation in industry conferences, hackathons, and internal innovation sprints.
  • Authorship of technical blogs, whitepapers, and case studies that showcase your expertise.
  • Cross‑functional rotations that expose you to product strategy, sales enablement, and customer success.

Work Environment & Culture

  • Ownership from Day One: Design your own pipelines, choose your own tools, and architect solutions that matter.
  • Cutting‑Edge at Scale: Tackle unsolved problems in BigQuery optimization, real‑time anomaly detection, and cost prediction.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Small, flat team structure with no middle management. Your voice is heard and your ideas shape the product.
  • Inclusive Community: Diverse, international team with regular social events, professional meetups, and team‑building activities.
  • Work‑Life Balance: Flexible remote work options, support for commuting, and wellness initiatives.
  • Transparent Decision‑Making: Regular all‑hands meetings where leadership shares company metrics, product roadmaps, and strategic priorities.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

While specific figures vary by role and location, brighthush offers a competitive salary package that reflects your expertise and impact. In addition to base pay, you will receive:

  • Performance‑based bonuses tied to customer success metrics.
  • Equity options to share in the company’s growth.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work flexibility.
  • Annual learning stipend and paid training hours.
  • Wellness programs, including gym memberships and mental health support.
  • Annual team retreats and social events.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
