Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Spanish Medical Interpreter, suitable for individuals with little or no prior experience, as full training is provided. In this role, you will facilitate accurate and confidential communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals over the phone and via video. Day-to-day responsibilities include listening carefully to medical interactions, interpreting spoken information in real time, and ensuring that medical terminology, diagnoses, treatment plans, and consent information are conveyed clearly and neutrally. You will follow established protocols to maintain patient confidentiality, adhere to HIPAA and company guidelines, and document sessions as required. The role may involve working flexible shifts to support 24/7 operations and participating in ongoing training and performance feedback to continually strengthen interpreting skills and subject-matter knowledge.
Qualifications
Strong Spanish and English language proficiency, with the ability to interpret accurately and neutrally in real time (Interpreting, Simultaneous Interpretation). Interest in or foundational knowledge of healthcare environments, including willingness to learn and apply Medical Interpretation and Medical Terminology. Ability to distinguish between and appropriately use skills in Interpretation and Translation when needed, with clear spoken communication and active listening. Comfort with using online platforms, headsets, and secure communication tools for remote interpretation, along with basic computer literacy. High ethical standards, respect for confidentiality, and commitment to HIPAA-compliant practices. Professional demeanor, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to remain calm and focused in medical and emergency contexts. Willingness to complete company-provided training programs and ongoing professional development; prior customer service or healthcare exposure is a plus. Reliable internet connection and a quiet, private workspace suitable for remote interpreting.
