Position Overview

The Strategic HIV Customer Representative is a pivotal member of brighthush’s Customer Team, responsible for delivering tailored, value‑based solutions to HCPs across the Washington, DC Metro area (the “DC Mirror” territory). This field‑based role blends consultative selling, scientific acumen, and strategic account planning to ensure that brighthush’s HIV portfolio is positioned as the preferred choice for clinicians, specialty pharmacies, and health systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer‑Centric Communication: Translate complex product data into clear, relevant messaging that resonates with each HCP’s unique practice needs and patient population.
  • Strategic Account Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for selected accounts, conducting deep‑dive assessments of practice structure, payer dynamics (IDS, ADAP, DOC, VA, DOH), and key influencers to uncover business opportunities.
  • Collaborative Planning: Partner with the broader Customer Team—including Clinical Liaisons, Managed Care Specialists, and Marketing—to co‑create customized account strategies that align with brighthush’s overall HIV business objectives.
  • Resource Leveraging: Identify and deploy brighthush’s suite of educational, digital, and support resources to address specific customer challenges and improve patient outcomes.
  • Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis: Monitor local and national HIV market trends, competitor activity, and emerging therapeutic developments; provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Technology Adoption: Embrace and champion new digital engagement tools (e‑learning platforms, virtual detailing, multi‑channel outreach) to enhance reach and efficiency.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Conduct all activities in strict adherence to federal, state, and brighthush policies, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
  • Performance Measurement: Track sales metrics, pipeline health, and territory coverage; report results to leadership and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Virology Account Teams, Community Liaisons, and IDS executives to synchronize efforts across product lines and therapeutic areas.

HIV‑Specific Expertise Required

  • Develop compelling value propositions that differentiate brighthush’s HIV portfolio from competitors, focusing on patient‑centric outcomes and evidence‑based support programs.
  • Anticipate market shifts and proactively recommend strategic adjustments to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Ask insightful, strategic questions to uncover HCPs’ unmet needs and translate those insights into tailored business plans.
  • Navigate specialty pharmacy channels, understanding distribution challenges and leveraging opportunities to expand product access.
  • Manage the full Virology product suite, prioritizing opportunities through rigorous segmentation, targeting, and business analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional Virology stakeholders (Clinical Leaders, Territory Managers, Marketing) to develop long‑term, value‑based account plans.
  • Engage difficult‑to‑reach customers in a “no‑sample” environment, building trust and demonstrating brighthush’s commitment to ethical, evidence‑driven care.
  • Maintain a “business owner” mindset, adapting quickly to changing market conditions, product launches, and evolving customer needs.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of sales experience, or a high school diploma with at least 6 years of equivalent professional experience in sales, marketing, military, or a healthcare/scientific field (pharma, biotech, medical devices).
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time within the DC Mirror territory and to national conferences.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Demonstrated ability to operate within highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and industry standards.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years of account management or sales experience with infectious disease customers, preferably with direct HIV product exposure or launch experience.
  • Specialty sales background across multiple therapeutic areas, with a strong preference for experience in specialty pharmacy environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic engagement plans that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Established relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and influencers within the HIV community.
  • Deep understanding of complex payer ecosystems, including the role of pharmacy benefit managers, Medicaid/Medicare, and government programs.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of delivering scientific information to diverse audiences.
  • High business acumen, analytical mindset, and the ability to synthesize data into actionable strategies.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of thriving in a matrixed, collaborative environment.

Core Competencies for Success
