[Remote] Head of SEO

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Search for Hire is recruiting on behalf of a confidential SEO agency for a senior delivery lead. The Head of SEO and AI owns client-facing SEO delivery, develops strategies, unblocks project teams, and takes over delivery decisions that currently route to the founder.

Responsibilities

• Join client calls alongside the project manager. When the client asks something the PM can't answer, you answer it, live, with confidence
• Know what is going on in projects at a high level: the strategy, the status, what is working, what isn't, and what is due next
• Unblock project managers and client success managers. When something is stuck (a strategy question, a technical question, a client pushing back), you resolve it the same day
• Come up with creative strategies when the standard playbook isn't delivering results, and own them through execution
• Enable the team. Answer questions, coach PMs, and raise the bar on the quality of everything that goes to a client
• Take over the delivery questions and decisions that currently route to the founder

Skills

• Deep, current SEO expertise: technical, content, programmatic and local
• You have led delivery at an agency or run SEO in-house at scale
• Real AI search knowledge: how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode source and cite, and what actually moves a brand's visibility in them
• You have been the person on the client call the client trusts
• You stay calm under pushback and can say "I don't know yet, here is how we'll find out" without losing the room
• You would rather make ten people better than do every task yourself
• Reliable
• Comfortable running multiple client engagements in parallel and switching context fast
