[Remote] SAP Cloud ERP Finance Configuration Lead

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Planet Group is seeking a SAP Public Cloud Finance Configuration Lead to lead configuration, stabilization, and ongoing improvement of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Finance. The role owns the Finance configuration backlog and production health, leads cross-functional functional design and testing, and supports Finance users and teams after go-live.

Responsibilities

• Own the Finance configuration backlog and turn approved business requirements into fit-to-standard configuration decisions
• Lead configuration and functional design across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, controlling structures, allocations, and period-end processes
• Own management accounting configuration, including cost centers, profit centers, reporting dimensions, settlement and allocation concepts, and profitability-related design
• Lead functional ownership of Event-Based Revenue Recognition for project-based services, including recognition methods, accounting treatment, issue analysis, period-end activities, and reconciliation to source transactions
• Support cash and liquidity management, bank and house bank design, payment configuration, and treasury processes in scope
• Assess defects and enhancement requests to determine whether the cause is configuration, master data, integration, authorization, data, or product standard
• Drive root-cause analysis for posting, derivation, valuation, revenue recognition, and closing issues, and coordinate resolution with the right delivery team
• Maintain configuration documentation, decision records, test evidence, operating procedures, and traceability from requirement to production
• Define acceptance criteria and lead unit, regression, release, and business validation testing for Finance changes
• Partner with data teams on data quality, mapping, reconciliation, and migration and cutover corrections
• Partner with integration teams on upstream and downstream accounting impacts and interface error handling
• Support Finance users during close, billing and revenue recognition cycles, and high-severity production incidents
• Review SAP release changes and recommend adoption, regression scope, or mitigation actions
• Uphold clean-core and fit-to-standard principles, escalating custom requests that add significant operational complexity
• Provide functional leadership to analysts, configurators, and external integrator resources, including quality review of their deliverables
• Own Finance production stabilization, incident triage, recurring-problem elimination, and functional service health
• Establish post-go-live controls for close readiness, revenue recognition exceptions, failed postings, interface-related finance errors, and configuration drift
• Maintain a prioritized improvement roadmap aligned to cloud release cycles and business close calendars
• Ensure production changes follow change control, segregation-of-duties, regression testing, deployment, and hypercare standards
• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Tax, Billing, Professional Services operations, Procurement, Data, Integration, Security, Architecture, QA/Release Management, SAP support, and implementation partners

Skills

• 8+ years of SAP Finance delivery experience, including significant hands-on configuration leadership
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Finance (or comparable S/4HANA cloud delivery), including post-go-live support
• Knowledge of Financial Accounting (GL, AP, AR), Management Accounting/Controlling, and Asset Accounting
• Experience with Event-Based Revenue Recognition for project-based services, plus WIP, revenue, and cost recognition concepts
• Knowledge of Cash and Liquidity Management, bank and house bank concepts, payments, and treasury-related process integration
• Ability to translate accounting policy and professional services requirements into SAP configuration and controls
• Experience with integrated financial postings, period close, reconciliation, and production support
• Experience with SAP Fiori, configuration lifecycle, business roles, testing, defect analysis, and release impact assessment
• Experience integrating with project billing, procurement, time and expense, tax, and reporting
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Professional services or project-based enterprise experience
• Experience with SAP Activate, fit-to-standard workshops, clean-core governance, and SAP Cloud ALM
• Current SAP certification or learning credential aligned to S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Financial Accounting and/or Management Accounting
