Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Federal Customer Account Manager to lead the post‑implementation relationship, recurring‑revenue strategy, and continuity for large, complex Public Sector Federal accounts. This role will serve as a strategic partner to U.S. Federal Civilian departments, agencies, and related public‑sector organizations, ensuring that brighthush’s services align perfectly with their mission, technology roadmaps, and funding cycles.
As a key member of our Federal Customer Success team, you will own the entire customer lifecycle—from renewal negotiations and churn mitigation to expansion opportunities and executive business reviews. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Operations, and Product teams to deliver a seamless, value‑driven experience that keeps our federal customers satisfied and invested in brighthush’s solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and nurture executive relationships: Develop strong operational, commercial, and executive ties with Federal customers and their account teams, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Strategic account planning: Create multi‑year account, renewal, and network plans that reflect customer priorities, service needs, contract status, funding cycles, procurement timelines, competitive risk, and financial exposure.
- Revenue stewardship: Own revenue protection, churn management, renewal execution, and expansion strategy for assigned accounts, ensuring that brighthush’s financial goals are met.
- Lead complex renewals and RFP/RFQ responses: Manage multi‑service, multi‑location, or multi‑year renewals, as well as RFP/RFQ responses and executive business reviews.
- Align solutions to agency missions: Develop and execute customer strategies that align with agency missions, technology roadmaps, budgets, acquisition plans, and brighthush capabilities.
- Identify growth opportunities: Partner with Sales to uncover expansion opportunities by understanding customer infrastructure needs, funding availability, upcoming procurements, technology initiatives, and service expansion possibilities.
- Navigate federal procurement: Leverage Federal contract vehicles, cooperative purchasing programs, consortiums, and other public‑sector procurement mechanisms to support renewals and growth.
- Churn forecasting and mitigation: Manage material churn forecasts and mitigation plans while balancing customer outcomes with pricing discipline, contract terms, margin, capital recovery, and long‑term account value.
- Contract strategy development: Design and negotiate save, replacement, portability, migration, network‑redesign, relocation, decommission, and contract‑restructuring strategies appropriate to the customer and the evolving federal landscape.
Essential Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in account management, sales, or customer success within the federal or public‑sector technology space.
- Proven track record of managing multi‑million‑dollar accounts, driving renewals, and expanding revenue streams.
- Deep understanding of federal procurement processes, including FAR, GSA schedules, IDIQs, and cooperative purchasing agreements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to forecast revenue, analyze churn drivers, and develop data‑driven account plans.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging C‑suite executives, procurement officials, and technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Operations to deliver integrated solutions.
- Experience with enterprise networking solutions—dark fiber, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access—is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM, or networking certifications) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a senior account management role focused on federal agencies or large public‑sector organizations.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as 5G, edge computing, and cloud‑native networking.
- Experience with strategic partnership development and joint‑go‑to‑market initiatives.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and account planning tools.
- Strong negotiation skills and a history of closing complex, multi‑year contracts.
